Red Ribbon is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States. Red Ribbon Week is designed to be an awareness campaign that gets information to the general public about the dangers of drug and alcohol use. This event takes place yearly, in late October. WHMS celebrates being drug free with school wide contests, dress up days and guest speakers.

Dress Up Days
Monday - Wear Red
Tuesday - “Saying No to Drugs is No Sweat” Students wear workout clothes or sweats
Wednesday - “Team up against drugs"- Wear favorite sports team shirt
Thursday - “Say Boo to Drugs” Students wear a Halloween themed shirt or Black and/or Orange
Friday - “Spartans don’t do Drugs”- Students wear Hempfield Spartan clothes or blue or grey
Mental health Week was celebrated this year April 12th-April 16th. WHMS promoted mental health awareness by having dress up days (see below), a video presenting a mental health guest speaker- Dr. Raman Bawaja of the Penn State Mental Health System, and various lessons regarding mental health awareness, coping with stress, and recognizing when you need help.
Mental Health Week Dress Up Days 2021:
Monday: Mental Health Awareness (wear green-the color of the mental health week ribbon)
Tuesday: Be mentally and physically fit (wear gym clothes)
Wednesday: Be comfortable with yourself (wear comfy clothes)
Thursday: Rock-on (wear a rock band t-shirt)
Friday: We all belong to WHMS (spartan spirit gear)
