Our central idea this time will continue to be 'Machinery may have a positive impact on humankind'.
We will be exploring the following lines of inquiry:
How machinery has advanced. (Change)
The impact machinery has on today's society. (Causation)
The role we play in a sustainable society. (Form)
This week we have been learning about autumn. We used what we found out about the season to write an autumn shape poem.
In Maths this term, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We enjoyed naming the shapes we used to make different towers. We demonstrated the thinker learner profile attribute when we were grouping the shapes in different ways.
On Friday, we went to the theatre to see 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'. We had a lovely time. We enjoyed joining in with some of the actions and laughing at the tiger.
In Maths this week, we have been learning about fact families. We used different manipulatives to help us.
We enjoyed exploring sliders and levers as part of our DT project this week. We began by looking for different examples of levers and sliders in the classroom.
We then explored making some simple sliders and levers ourselves.
This week we made a Christmas card with either a slider or a lever for a member of our family. First we plannned our design. Then we had great fun making our cards and can't wait to deliver them!
Yet again we have had some super Inquiry Project presentations this term. It is always amazing to see such a wide variety of different projects that have been created. We have learnt so much about a range of different inventions and the impact these have had on humans. We have seens some fantastic posters, amazing models, super videos and great presentations. Well done!
