Welcome to Mulberry Creek Elementary School, where a journey of exploration and innovation began in 1998. Nestled in the heart of Cataula, Georgia, at 8405 Ga Hwy 315, our school has been a beacon of educational excellence serving approximately 550 students from Pre-K through 4th grade, primarily from the southwest region of Harris County.
Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) journey commenced in the 2016-2017 academic year under the visionary leadership of Dr. Finney. With a focus on technology and engineering, students embarked on thrilling projects, including crafting leprechaun traps and engaging in KIA's "A World in Motion" with gravity cruisers. Complementing these endeavors were enriching extracurricular activities like the Garden Club, nurturing inquisitive minds about the wonders of flora.
As the years progressed, our commitment to STEAM education deepened. In 2018-2019, students delved into technology-related careers through captivating projects such as astronomy studies. Concurrently, the integration of arts flourished, witnessed through initiatives like the installation of our Rock Garden and the birth of the STEAMers Club, igniting curiosity across a spectrum of subjects.
2019-2020 marked a significant expansion of our educational horizons as we ventured into the realm of livestock studies. From adopting goats to investigating the care of chickens, our students embraced hands-on learning experiences. Collaborating with local partners, we cultivated garden beds, fostering a connection between our curriculum and the natural world. Meanwhile, artistic expression thrived with drama performances and the inception of the Chorus Club.
The journey continued into 2021-2022, with a renewed focus on agricultural exploration and environmental stewardship. Our garden beds became hubs of learning, as students explored the role of plants in supporting pollinators and enhancing ecosystems. Strengthening our ties with the community, we welcomed partnerships with esteemed organizations like the local 4-H County Extension office and meteorologist Derek Kinkade, enriching our educational landscape.
Throughout our history, Mulberry Creek Elementary has remained dedicated to nurturing the next generation of innovators and critical thinkers. Our students and educators continually push the boundaries of knowledge, embracing the interdisciplinary spirit of STEAM education to inspire creativity and excellence.
