It is the post-classical time period 1200-1450 CE. Your region of the world is practically experiencing a “golden age” due to stable governments, new ideas and technologies, and overall economic growth. Your government has asked your travel agency to create a travel brochure showcasing your region to increase tourism.
Directions: In small groups, you will act as a travel agency responsible for creating a travel brochure and travel itinerary to one of the following AP World regions during the time period 1200-1450 CE. For each location, you are to focus on the acronym SPICE-T to describe the region to those “planning their trip”. Each group must include a contextualization statement on the front of their brochure that describes what this region of the world was like pre-1200 CE. Take note if there are any changes and/or continuities! Information included in the project must be between 1200 - 1450 CE. **Please follow the Canva Directions on how to submit your brochure!**
East Asia
Dar al-Islam
South & Southeast Asia
The Americas
Africa
Europe
Remember, be creative! Think about creating a name for your travel agency and even a logo. Write out SPICE-T in a fun and unique way that resembles what a travel agency may say to promote a specific location!
Requirements:
Brochure:
All aspects of SPICE-T must be found on your brochure! Complete the organizer below with your group first and your name must appear 2 times in the theme you contributed to! Each section must be 3-4 sentences in length and include at least ONE illustrative example (if applicable) from the following worksheet. If a section of SPICE-T does not include an illustrative example, please respond to the overall prompt for the theme. You may label each section of the brochure with the themes (Ex: Society, Culture, Economics, etc.). Include images and other graphics to make brochures visually appealing!
Itinerary:
Create a 7-day travel itinerary, describing the cities, activities, and events that one can participate in when traveling to your region. There must be at least 2-3 activities per day, as well as a small description of those activities (1-2 sentences). These might include religious events/sites, government/other architectural buildings, food to eat, and other illustrative examples! Remember, this is between 1200 - 1450 CE…there are no cars, planes, or trains to get you from place to place! You may come up with tours that people may take (ex. “Take a tour of the Grand Canal and see…, etc.)! Keep your clients busy and have them enjoy their trip to your region!
You must use the following worksheet to guide your responses! It includes important information that should be included in your brochure! Each aspect of SPICE-T must be at least 3-4 sentences in length!
