4th Grade with Mrs. Bos

Week 37

announcements

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers reading this newsletter! Your children are blessed to have your Godly influence in their lives.

Warrior Week was a blast! We sure are having a fun last few weeks of school, the countdown is on!

We have a big project coming up THIS WEEK! We have been studying California's history, and students will be participating in a Wax Museum presentation on THIS FRIDAY, May 17th! It will be open for parents and families to come and visit in the afternoon starting at 1:00pm, until 2:15. Mark your calendars! Each student picked a famous Californian to study. Students have a packet we have been working on in class. The presentation with include a trifold board that we will work on in class (stay tuned for dates), a short speech (written in class), and a research paper (Also, written in class). Students will need a 'costume' of some form to dress like their chosen Californian. Please refer to the packet for any questions you may have, and contact me if you need any further clarification. On Friday, students may bring their costume in another bag so that they can change at lunchtime before their presentation.

Looking ahead, on Tuesday, May 21st, we will be hosting a '4th Grade Yard Sale/Market'. Students have used a classroom economy all year, and this is a chance for them to try their hand at entrepreneurship! This is NOT mandatory! However, if your child chooses to participate, they may bring items to 'sell' to their classmates, to be purchased with Class Money. Items that would be appropriate would be baked goods, stickers, small toys/party favors, or bagged snacks. Last year's students had a blast with this, and I look forward to hosting another market this year! Please let me know if you have any questions!

HOMEWORK

This is the last homework packet of 4th grade! Thank you for supporting your child in their learning this year! I have seen huge growth in each of them.

We are actively working on our California History projects! Please be checking in with your student about their progress on this project. Students have written their speeches and need to memorize them. The speech is only a few sentences, and they have a copy in their binder to practice with. We will be working on our poster boards until Wednesday, if it is not done it will come home to be finished before we do practice presentations on Thursday, and present to other classes and families on Friday.

We are currently working through Unit 16 in our Roots curriculum. The last vocabulary/roots (and spelling) test will be on Friday, May 17th. Here is a helpful link from Quizlet that students can use to study.

*Most work that is not completed in class, as well as studying for tests, will be done as homework. This will be noted in the planner.
