This is the last week of the second quarter! I am very proud of each one of your students and the effort they have been putting forth in our classroom so far this year. There has been a lot of growth in our classroom this quarter! Wednesday, January 14 is the last day of the 2nd quarter. Reports cards will be sent out next week.

We will be doing some mid-year MAPs testing this week Monday and Friday. Please support your student in doing their best work by ensuring they are well rested and eat a good breakfast.

Please join us for our January Chapel on Wednesday, January 14 at 9:00am in the gym.

R.E.D. Friday

Friday, January 16, 2026, is R.E.D. Friday at Hanford Christian! R.E.D. stands for Remembering Everyone Deployed, and wearing RED on a Friday reminds us to be mindful of the deployed and the sacrifices their families make. We have so many amazing military families at Hanford Christian, and we want to thank and support them!

On January 16, the entire school is invited to wear the color red to pray for, support, and remember all people in the military who are deployed. Students will receive a spirit wear coupon for dressing in or wearing red (bandana, socks, pants, anything!). HCS military families will be acknowledged and prayed for at Prayer and Pledge, and the National Anthem will be played.

We look forward to showing support and gratitude to HCS military families and those deployed around the world!

Looking ahead

There will be no school on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Friendly Reminders

Please be sure your child eats a full breakfast each morning so they are able to focus on their learning first thing in the morning. Thank you!

Library Books must be returned to school on Thursday.

Please be sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes and clothes for P.E. on Mondays and Wednesday.

Please send a reusable water bottle with your child to school each day. Thank you

Weekly Expectations

Reading: Please have your child read aloud to you for 20 minutes each night and record the title on the homework log.

Math: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, your child will have a practice timed math facts test. The test will come home for you to review with your child and finish completing if needed. Please return the completed test the next day.

We will start the math homework in class each day. At the end of our math time, your child will take home their math homework, completed or not, to be reviewed with a parent and completed if necessary. All math pages must be returned the following day to be looked over by the teacher and reviewed as a class.

Memory Verse: Please help your child memorize their assigned memory verse.

Superkids Backpack Pages: You have received a Superkids workbook to keep at home that we will refer to as “Backpack Pages.” You are responsible for helping your child tear out and complete the assigned pages each week. These pages will be turned in on Friday. The weekly spelling list and assigned backpack pages will be updated below each week and tested on Friday.
