Resources for Daily Needs
Basic Needs Program and Care Manager, Jess Cheney - Facing challenges related to housing, food access, or basic necessities? Need help navigating SNAP applications, figuring out insurance, or other paperwork? Jess Cheney is available to meet with students and help you navigate the various resources on campus and systems off campus to ensure you have what you need to be successful. Stop by the Food Resource Center in West Hall 110 or email Jess directly at: jcheney02@hamline.edu for assistance.
Food Resource Center - A campus resource that provides the Hamline community with information and support regarding public benefits (e.g.: SNAP, housing), free microwavable meals, and free, direct access to take-home groceries, hygiene products, and other essentials. Hamline Emergency Grants - You can get help for emergencies with small grants that Hamline provides to help students (e.g.: help paying for an essential medication/prescription, purchasing a winter coat and winter gear, paying for temporary transportation to campus). These grants do not need to be repaid.
Hamline Free Store - Located on the first floor of Drew Science, the Hamline Free store offers free second-hand goods to the Hamline community. Drop by any time, whether you're looking for a free find or want to donate gently used clothing, books, decor, or homeware.
CASA's Free School Supply Closet - Located on the lower level of Bush Memorial Library in the CASA offices. Drop by anytime to pick up school supply basics like binders and dividers, notebooks and writing pads, planners, folders, loose leaf paper, highlighters, pens, pencils, index cards and more!
Hamline Commuter Resources - Hamline has designated resources, information, and space for students who drive or use public transportation to commute to campus. Review the Getting Around guide online for information and assistance biking or busing to campus.
Menstrual, Hygiene, and Sexual Health Resources - The Center for Gender and Sexualities is dedicated to making resources available for free to anyone who needs them. They provide menstrual and sexual health supplies including options for people with allergies and sensitivities. Free supply carts and boxes can be located across campus, including in the Basement of Bush Library outside CASA bathrooms. Items typically available: Face masks, pads/liners, tampons, menstrual cups, UTI tests, pregnancy tests, and safer sex products.
COVID-19 and Respiratory Illness Resources - Free COVID rapid antigen tests and KN95 masks are available to our entire community at the Anderson Center Front Desk, the Food Resource Center in West Hall. Testing supplies, masks, and vaccinations are available at Counseling and Health Services. Or, use the Vaccine Finder for local pharmacies and clinics that can administer immunizations for flu, pneumonia, and COVID-19.
Financial Resources
Student Emergency Loan Program - Hamline University's emergency loan program is designed to assist students who find themselves faced with unexpected financial emergencies that affect their ability to function as a student. The emergency loan program is carried out as a partnership between the Student Accounts Office and the Deans of the various schools and are expected to be repaid.
Find Scholarships and Grants to Offset Costs - Scholarships and grants are types of aid that do not need to be repaid and are awarded based on student's academic/athletic achievement, cultural or religious background, or special skills and talents.
