Warrior Wednesdays

Don't forget that every Wednesday is Warrior Wednesday! We encourage everyone to wear spirit wear or school colors. The class with the most school spirit earns our Warrior trophy for the week.

Coming Soon...Stage Curtain

Over the break, work began to install our new Stage Curtain in the gym. The infrastructure has been installed, and we are anxiously awaiting arrival of the curtain. A special thanks to our PTO for helping us make this happen. Also, a special thank you goes to our Warriors for making our Warrior Walk a success so that this much needed curtain could be purchased. We're excited for this awesome update to soon be finished.

Welcome Officer Nick Jackson to CMCSI

School Resource Officer Nick Jackson

We are excited to welcome Officer Nick Jackson to CMCSI. Officer Jackson will serve CMCSI along with other South Hall County Schools as a roving School Resource Officer. He is looking forward to meeting our Warriors and Warrior families. We are thankful to the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Hall County School district for partnering together in bringing Officer Jackson to CMCSI. Below is some background information on Officer Jackson to help you get to know him a little better.

  • I have been married to my wife Heather for 21 years and have five kids (3 girls, 2 boys) ranging in age from 10 to 18. I grew up in Sioux City, IA, my dad was a police officer and my mom was a public school teacher their entire careers. I attended college at Central Bible College (later merged into Evangel University) in Springfield, MO. I received my B.A. degree in Bible/Youth Ministry in 2000, with minors in pastoral counseling and psychology.

  • I served as a full time youth pastor at two different churches in the Los Angeles, CA area over the next six years. In 2006 my family moved to Las Vegas, NV, I became a juvenile probation officer with Clark County shortly thereafter. I worked 10+ years in the Detention Division and 1 year in Probation Division, in an intensive supervision after-school program. During my time with Clark County DJJS I was an instructor in Conflict Resolution/Verbal De-escalation and also instructed in the probation officer academies. My family moved to North Georgia in 2019. I served as a deputy sheriff with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office for 3.5 years, working in the FOCO courthouse, FCSO South Precinct, and the FOCO Jail. I was hired as an SRO with the Hall County Sheriff's Office in September 2022. I recently completed patrol field training, A.L.E.R.R.T. active shooter response training, and patrol rifle certification.

News from the Clinic

Here are 5 quick tips to keep you and your kids healthy throughout the remaining weeks of winter. They’re simple but if you do them, you’ll greatly reduce the risk of anyone getting sick.

  • Get Enough Sleep. Sufficient sleep is an essential component of good health and disease prevention. A good night’s sleep makes everyone more productive and keeps our immune systems operating well. Younger kids should get 10 hours of sleep per night, which drops slightly (8.5-9.5 hours) for children aged 10-17.

  • Eat Well. Healthy eating fuels our immune systems and plays a huge role in our long-term health. Encourage your family to eat brightly-colored fruits and vegetables – ideally 2 fruits and 3 vegetables per day during meals and snacks.

  • Stay Active. Kids are supposed to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day. During the week, they may accomplish part of this during school but make sure that they’re getting their full 60 minutes afterwards, and especially during holidays and weekends. Since February is National Heart Month, this is a great time to teach your kids how to measure their heart rates. Grab a stopwatch and have them count their heartbeats for 6 seconds, then multiply by 10. They can compare how their heart rates vary with different levels of activity (sitting, standing, hopping, dancing, and running).

  • Watch Outdoor Temperatures. Playing outdoors is great for kids and can help them stay active during the day. Just remember to limit their time outdoors when it’s very cold, and especially when temperatures drop into the 20’s, or lower depending on the wind chill. Remember to keep them properly outfitted (layers of clothes, coats, gloves, etc.) and consult your doctor if you have any concerns about frostbite or hypothermia.

  • Wash Hands. This is the single most effective way to prevent most winter illnesses (and throughout the whole year)! Any virus can be spread when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or touches a surface and leaves behind secretions. Hand washing -- regularly and correctly -- can dramatically reduce much of the exposure. Steps for effective hand-washing include washing hands for at least 20 seconds (the length of 2 “Happy Birthdays”) and making sure to hit all parts of the hands and fingers.
