News from the Front Office

Our Warriors have now been in school OVER 100 Days! Last week, we enjoyed our new Enrichment Clusters. Enrichment Clusters are a block of time set aside each month to allow K-5th Grade students to explore, create, and participate in inquiry-based learning at CMCSI. Enrichment Clusters support our school's magnet and are meaningful hands-on learning experiences for our students. Ask your child about what they are doing in their Enrichment Cluster!

February promises to be busy at CMCSI! We are looking forward to Valentines Exchanges, 4th and 5th Grade Showcase Night, Spirit Night at Dairy Queen in Oakwood, and of course TRIBES and Enrichment Clusters at the end of the month.

At the end of February, Read Across America Week will be a highlight of our year complete with literacy themed days, mystery readers, reading class activities and more! Details will be coming home later this month for Read Across America Week which begins February 27th.

We hope you have a wonderful week! Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @CMCSIWarriors to keep up with all of the amazing happenings at CMCSI and see lots of pictures of our students and staff too. Feel free to contact us if you ever need anything.

Magnet Applications now available

If you know friends & family who would like to attend CMCSI next year, but do not live in our attendance zone, the Hall County School District is now accepting Magnet Applications through March 31st. (Students who are already accepted and attending CMCSI through our Magnet Program do NOT need to reapply.) This year the application process will be through the Hall County School District rather than through individual schools. More information regarding the transfer process & the Magnet Program Application can be found here. Help spread the word to our future Warriors!

Learning Together At Home

Are you looking for an online resource to support your student's learning at home? If so, check out and sign up for a free resource at https://www.khanacademy.org/signup?isparent=1. Khan Academy is an online resource that covers a variety of subjects and gives your child access to study videos, step-by-step problems, and instant progress information.

Check out our new MAKERSPACE LAB!

We are so excited for the recent kickoff of our school's new Makerspace Lab located beside our newly renovated Learning Commons. Classes have begun utilizing our Makerspace Lab the last several days by participating in hands-on learning activities that correlate to their grade level standards.

A special thank to our PTO for ordering a variety of materials to make this an engaging and amazing learning space for our students. Our PTO designated funds from our annual Warrior Walk-A-Thon to our Makerspace Lab, and we couldn't be more proud of how it turned out. Ask your Warrior about it today...they are certain to love it as much as we do!

Ways to Support CMCSI!

Spirit Nights

  • CMCSI Spirit Nights take place each month! If your family visits the restaurant or drive-thru on our CMCSI Spirit Night, a portion of the sales will be donated to the school! Be sure to tell the restaurant you are there for CMCSI Spirit Night (for CMCSI to get credit!).

    • Our next Spirit Night is at Dairy Queen in Oakwood on February 23rd from 5PM-8PM

Shopping at Amazon

You can help CMCSI by doing the shopping you normally do! You just have to remember to SMILE. Start shopping at smile.amazon.com using the link below and Amazon will contribute 0.5% of every purchase you make toward your charity, our CMCSI PTO. The first time you visit, you'll have to pick your charity by searching for Chestnut Mountain Elementary. This is the same Amazon you normally shop, but adding SMILE will give them the OK to donate part of your purchase.

Only shop Amazon from your smartphone? You can SMILE in your Amazon App, too. Here's how to set up Amazon Smile on the Amazon App. It's a one and done thing; set it one time and every purchase going forward will contribute to CMCSI!
