On a night that everyone thought was normal, a curious teenager named Mark decided to explore the town he once thought was normal. Mark is eighteen years old and currently a senior at Hackettstown High School. He just started his last year and could not be ready to be done with school for good. He lived with his mom, dad, and two sisters, Margie and Maggie.
Mark started off by walking down his stairs very silently because he did not want to wake anyone. Walking out of his front door, down the path and entering the street with the flickering street lights above him, Mark walked down the street as he came across the intersection nobody dared to go down. One way was Mark's street and the other way was to an eerie road named West Hills Street. West Hills Street was home to some of the wickedest, creepiest, and dilapidated houses right in the heart of Hackettstown. Now to keep in mind, these houses had boarded up windows, their once vibrant colored siding has now faded, and the locals stay away from these houses at all costs. When someone new moves in, they are warned about this street. Some rumors even say if you look at it funny, it might bite back. There are so many rumors that circulate about these houses that nobody dares to know the truth about what really happened.
Mark decided while walking down West Hills Street, he was going to explore one of the most gruesome houses known to date on this road. Everyone in the neighborhood called this house ¨Wicked Nights¨ because of all the gruesome stuff that has been rumored to have happened in the house years back. As he entered the house, a brisk chill flushed Mark right in the face leaving goosebumps down his arms. As we walked on the dilapidated floor boards, the cricks and creeks that followed behind him left him with an eerie feeling, but his intrusive thoughts won and he kept going. Mark's heart was racing as he ventured deeper into the darkness of the house. With only his phone flashlight, the decay on the walls glowing in the light of his phone. Suddenly Mark found himself having his biggest fears come true. He found himself not being able to see anything and realizing his phone had died which meant his only source of direct light was gone. The only light he had was the light that was slightly coming through from a torn down window board that was letting the street light come through.
The walls seemed to be closing in on him as he ventured further into the house. Mark´s heart felt like it was about to pound out of his chest. His mind was consumed by the horrid ideas that his own brain was making. He was terrified by the creatures that his mind was creating. But even with this all in his mind, Mark was determined to escape this living nightmare after he finished what he started. Determined to explore more, he went on to walk up the stairs. When he finally got to the last stop he felt a weird feeling like he had been possessed by something that was far too big to stop. He then had a violent outburst of his own will power, he fought against the terrifying visions that seemed to come alive right before his eyes which consumed him to the point where he was seeing everything differently.
As he pushed through the darkness of the upstairs, he fell through an unpatched bunch of floor boards and discovered a hidden room in the middle of the Wicked Nights House. While he tried getting up from the ground after his fall, in the middle of the room was a table that had a dusty notebook on it. While he walked over to the table with the notebook on it, the top read “KEEP PRIVATE”. Of course Mark wanted to read it and he did not know if he would have any other chance to, so he did. The first line on the first page read, “This house has been absorbed by a lot of negative energy and emotions when my wife killed my six year old son. I have never been this upset.” This obviously freaked Mark out because he had no idea what he got himself into at this point. He tried to find his way out, but this seemed unseemingly possible. He touched every wall and every floorboard to see if there was some way to escape this horrible house but nothing was working. Feeling like something was off, he unseemingly until he looked under the table and saw a lever. Obviously Mark was frightened by the thought of what could happen if he pulled this lever but if this was the way out, it might have been worth it for him.
In that moment, Mark pulled the lever and little did he know it would open a door to the street. He was so relieved that it It brought him out on the side of the house. He went back outside and a gust of wind hit him in his face and Mark was not complaining. He was never so happy to see the outside world. He started running home because of how frightened he was from the night he just had. He made it back home before anyone woke up, Mark was terrified that he that he might be in trouble but he stayed quiet while walking back upstairs. Mark went to sleep and woke up only one hour later and acted like nothing had happened. Later that day, his mom had the radio on in the kitchen and the reporter said, “Today we is the last day that Wicked Nights House will be standing. Tomorrow the house will be destroyed."
