It seems like the fall semester is just underway, but the New Student Orientation Unit is busy getting ready to onboard and orient students for spring 2022. As we prepare for another registration cycle, we want to make sure you have all the information you need about new student orientation.
New student orientation (NSO) is a mandatory piece of the onboarding experience for all new students.
A student completes orientation after they have been admitted to the college and before they register for classes.
Our unit offers two tracks for students:
Traditional NSO - Mondays at 9 a.m. & 5 p.m., Tuesdays at 3 p.m., Thursdays at 1 p.m.
Orientation, Advising, & Registration Session (OARS) - Wednesdays at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. & 5 p.m.
Our unit is also proud to offer our newly updated self-paced, One College New Student Orientation Course in Brightspace/D2L. You can test drive this course by going to your myHACC account → Brightspace/D2L → Click “View All Courses” → Select One College New Student Orientation Course.
If you are working with a student who has questions, or you would like to learn more about what we do, please reach out to us at orientation@hacc.edu. We look forward to hearing from you!
The Assessment, Planning and Strategy Department finished their Fall 2021 Assessment Conversations to check in with all 12 units in the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. These work sessions allowed units to reflect on the assessment work they did in the 2020-2021 academic year. Ninety-three percent of this work was determined to be outcomes that were focused on program operations and satisfaction. The units were provided guidance on brainstorming ways to incorporate student learning into their assessment outcomes for AY 2021-2022.
