The OCA team had a banner year in 2020-21. Because of our hard work, our students and colleagues now have more financial resources in the HACC Foundation and more people know all that HACC has to offer.

On Dec. 6, HACC and the PNC Foundation unveiled a new effort to build a more diverse police and emergency medical technician talent pipeline for the region. The PNC Foundation gave the College a $112,500 grant to be used over three years to recruit and train 36 low- to moderate-income Black students in the Municipal Police Academy and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center.
The HACC Foundation will award scholarships to fully cover all tuition and educational costs associated with these programs.

HACC employees contacted by the media about official College and/or HACC Foundation matters should take the reporter’s contact information and tell them a member of the Office of College Advancement team will follow up. Employees then should email newsroom@hacc.edu with the information attached and copy the vice president of college advancement at lscarter@hacc.edu.
HACC’s Shared Governance Policy on News Releases, Media Advisory and Media Contacts (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QuHwYocN2qQ4_igoP5cacBHUFLXNCyb5) designates Dr. Ski, the College president, and Dr. Linnie Carter, the vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, as the primary spokespersons for the College.
Select members of the Integrated Marketing Communications Department are also authorized to serve as secondary spokespersons. No one else is authorized to communicate with the media about HACC and HACC Foundation business without written authorization from one of these individuals.
Why? This process ensures that the flow of information from the College is accurate, coordinated and controlled, and it protects the College both in good times and in times of crisis. When a crisis occurs, the media will look for anyone to serve as a source of information.

The communications hub is the online form that HACC employees use to request marketing activities to promote their initiatives, projects, programs or events.
The Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Department of the Office of College Advancement makes every effort to produce materials for colleagues across the College in a timely manner. Our process involves several levels of quality control that are vital to providing a well-written, professional product. A project that appears to be simple may involve multiple steps.
Although the IMC Department cannot guarantee that expedited deadlines can always be met, we understand that some high-priority projects need to be completed quickly and with limited notice. Please note that HACC employees may request expedited deadlines with the approval of their Cabinet-level supervisor.
The IMC Department regularly solicits feedback from colleagues and adjusts deadlines and processes when warranted. For example, we shortened deadlines for media advisories and press releases from 20 to 10 business days based on colleagues’ feedback.
There are several resources available for colleagues who need support completing a communications hub request:
During the summer and fall 2021 registration cycle, the Office of Academic Affairs and Office of College Advancement partnered to raise awareness of some of HACC’s phenomenal programs:
These programs were selected based on the following criteria, which were supported by data:
High demand in the job market
Low enrollment
Readiness for marketing (IMC had not previously launched a campaign.)
Alignment with our future student personas (if possible)
All three campaigns ran from Feb. 22-Aug. 29, 2021. From February through August 2021, there were 78,178 unique pageviews to the biology, electrical technology and human services webpages. This represents an 887.47% increase in pageviews over the same time period in 2020.
Notable results from each marketing campaign are detailed here.
