Community Service
For Grades 9-12
For Grades 9-12
Each year a student is enrolled in a HAAS high school program they are required to independently complete and document 60 hours of community service with a non-profit organization. These hours are a HAAS graduation requirement.
Community service paperwork is completed via the students’ advisory Google Classroom. Students should complete 15 hours quarterly and submit their paperwork via their Google Classroom. Students can pick up physical forms of the document at the InDigital Classroom.
Community service opportunities for students will be listed in the Google Classroom. Students should not rely on these hours only, as they will not be sufficient to meet the community service requirements. Some options for community service may include:
Volunteering in an elementary classroom.
Helping with afterschool supervision of the elementary students at main campus.
Volunteering with plays, clubs, and activities through HAAS. *Going to a HAAS activity, like Fun Day, will not count as community service unless the student is volunteering to work at the event. This must be approved before hand.
Participating in Volcano National Park Community Service trips through InDigital.
Assisting teachers in the IND classroom with daily tasks such as Chromebook management.
Coming to school on Community Service Friday to participate in Lei making or other organized service activities.
