The International Center for Academic Integrity defines academic integrity as a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage.
Students are expected to follow these rules in respect to their school work. Students found plagiarizing, searching the answers to assessments, or cheating on their work will face consequences for their behavior
Students must adhere to the Add and Drop Course policy as listed in the HAAS Handbook. Students will have two weeks from the start of the school year to add and drop courses. Courses that are not dropped within the timeframe will receive the earned grades and will impact transcripts.
If you are planning on accelerating and/or testing out of classes, you must meet with and complete the acceleration paperwork with the counselor within the first TWO WEEKS of the start of the school year. Acceleration is determined based on course availability and recommendations made by the educational team.
Within the first two weeks of school a student who has completed the acceleration paperwork and met with their teacher and counselor, may schedule a time to test out of a class with their teacher. In order to test out, the student must be present at school and take the final exam, scoring an 80% or higher. Students may not use notes on the final exam when testing out. There are other requirements and restrictions for testing out, which will be discussed during your academic team meeting.
InDigital coursework can be accessed online. As such, students may continue to complete their school work while traveling. Students who will be traveling and believe they will be missing deadlines for assignments need to meet with a counselor and complete paperwork 2 weeks BEFORE they leave. Not all travel plans will be eligible for excused absences and deadline extensions. Vacation is not an excuse for missing school work. Students who are not meeting attendance requirements will be marked absent.
Students are required to be Hawaii residents in order to be enrolled in the program. If a student moves out of Hawaii during the year they will be exited from HAAS. Please see the HAAS Handbook for more details.
