Orchids in the Everglades have the greatest diversity in the Continental U.S.. Orchids have a large variety. Most have leaves and stems, and some have flowers but not all. Terrestrial orchids which grow on the ground can be found in wetlands like marshes. They like warm and humid climates and spend most of their lives in trees. In Zoo Miami, they have the Hong Kong Orchid trees which has a beautiful magenta color and is very large. It can grow up to 50 feet. This tree was first found in Hong Kong but now they have them in the zoo. They grow best in fertile and sunny climates, which Miami has. It is not found in the wild and is the national flower of Hong Kong. Orchids are beautiful and many people use them as decorative flowers in their homes.
