Zebras are endangered because humans illegally hunt them for their hide therefor the population of zebras would decrease. The habitat in the zoo is small and grassy with some trees native to Florida. The habitat in Africa is a big grassy plane with few trees that are native to Africa inside of the savanna.
Facts:
Zebras diet consists of grass and scrubs.
Zebras are closely related to horses and donkeys because they are all from the same genus
Their black and white stripes are in different patters because they are unique to each individuals
Also they are generally social animals that live in small harems to large herds
The African Elephant is known for their tusk because they are made out of ivory and that can sell up to $1,500 per pound. The African Elephants diet is roots,grass,fruits and bark. The habitat in the zoo is bigger than the zebras but still grassy with some trees native to Florida. The habitat in Africa is a big grassy plane with few trees that are native to Africa in the savanna.

This is the Chimpanzee habitat and as you can see the picture on the right has a drawing of a heart. The Chimpanzee habitat in the zoo had man made ropes to climb on and grass and trees native to Florida. In Africa they are usually around native African trees to climb on and they have more room to play inside African jungles.
Chimpanzee are highly endanger animals because of threats that chimpanzees are habitat destruction, hunting, and disease.
Facts:
Chimpanzee love to eat plants, fruits, eggs, and meat.
Chimpanzee can be taught well to use sign language to other chimps or human people.
Chimpanzees thumb is in opposition with other fingers which means that their thumb is not in the same line with other four fingers just like in human hands.
They don't have a tail like other monkeys do.
Chimpanzees use tools like sticks to extract ants from the trees ,holes, or stones to break the shell of the nut.
They exchange kisses, hugs, touches in their community and use complicated system of sounds to communicate.
Okapi are endanger because of illegal hunting of human and the destruction of its habitat. Its habitat in the zoo had short grass with more room to run around and some trees native to Florida. In Africa they use a lot of space and are native to the Uturi Forest, or are found in wet forests with a lot of trees.
Facts:
Okapi are mammal native to the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa
Okapi have like bears stripes so that marked reminiscent of zebras and they are closely related to giraffe
Also Okapis have remarkable natural defenses against predators, with leopards and humans being their main predators.
They have large ears to detect any distribution, sometimes they would stay in one place on a nest for like six to nine weeks
They can play hide and seek well
Okapi can lick their own ears, they can wrap their tongue around leaves on which they feed, also their tongue is long enough to wash it's eyelids.
This plant is known as the carrion flower or the starfish flower. They have a very foul smell that is described as smelling like rotten meat. Plants in the zoo were kept in the same type of habitat, but in Africa this plant is found in the African jungle. This tree grows in swampy areas. It gets its name because people contacted malaria in the area near it, which had a side effect of fever. Its photosynthesis happens on the bark, giving it the yellowish-greenish look. In the zoo they had a small version of the tree. With the help of ants making small holes in it, the tree become a natural living whistle. The air passes trough the small holes creating whistling noises. Its made up of thorns to protects it self from birds and other animals trying to get the sacs on the tree. Africa is the hottest continent on earth, dry lands and deserts make up of the entire land surface. The Sahara Desert is the world's largest hot desert, and temperature above 100°F are common. In Miami, Florida, The weather here is at an average of 80°F to 90°F (during the time of year we were there) The day we went though was a cool 73°F. It s humid unlike the dryness in Africa and we experience more rain then Africa does on average every year. (https://www.pinterest.com/bmisquith/sunsets-and-sunrises/)
The animal we choose for the zoo to add in is the White Bengal Tiger. This tiger is very rare and we would like to see it in the exhibit one day. This tiger is from Asia and its biome is tropical. (Picture from http://tioharimrtie.blogspot.com/2011/01/white-bengal-tigers.html)
