The GUHSD Health Pathways is proud to offer our students four opportunities for summer enrichment. Students can apply for the following programs:
HESI job shadow at Sharp Grossmont Hospital
CNA at Health Occupations Center (HOC)
EMT at HOC
MA at HOC
Public Health Job Shadow at ECTLC
Successful completion of a summer program would qualify as an "internship", which is one of the requirements for gold or silver certification within the Health Pathways. More importantly, a CNA, EMT* or MA certification would make the student employable within the healthcare field, while the HESI and ECTLC job shadows would give the student elective credits on their high school transcript**. The requirements and application process can be found in the Program Guide tab to the left. If you have any questions about these programs, or need assistance with the application process, please reach out to the GUHSD Health Pathway Coordinator Todd Linke.
*The EMT class will provide funds for the student to take the National Registry EMT test, but San Diego County affiliation and LiveScan fingerprinting would be the student's financial responsibility.
**Credits not available to Helix Charter High School students.
