Private and Out-of-State Universities

Private and Out-of-State Universities are all very unique. In addition to program and campus differences, they also have varying degrees of admissions selectivity and admissions requirements. Please be award that out of state and private schools may have requirements that go above and beyond the "A-G" requirements so it is important to find out the requirements for each school you would like to apply to.

There are several organizations trying to make the application process more streamline for students by utilizing a single application that can be submitted to multiple universities with a separate fee and sometimes. Here are a few of the most frequently utlized:

Common Application - www.commonapp.org

  • Nearly 700 private and Out-of-State universities utlized the Common Application.

Coalition Application - www.coalitionforcollegeaccess.org

  • Beginning this year, 52 colleges and universities will accept the Coalition Application.

  • Students can create a Coalition account earlier in their high school years to take advantage of college planning and application tools. The platform of tools includes the Locker, a Collaboration Space and Application Portal.

Univeral College Application - www.universalcollegeapp.com

  • Currently 33 colleges and universities utlized the Universal College Application
