We encourage students to take a challenging course load while also considering a balance of extra-curricular activities and other commitments.
College Prep (C)
The standard level offered for all core courses. College prep courses are at a level to prepare students for post-secondary success in college and career. These courses also meet a UC/CSU “a-g” requirement. College prep courses in core subject areas are indicated with a “C” in the course name.
Honors (H)
An enriched course for students who wish to challenge themselves academically. Honors courses are at a level that may require extensive research, and the ability to analyze and evaluate abstract concepts in depth. These courses also meet a UC/CSU “a-g” requirement. Honors courses in core subject areas are indicated with an “H” in the course name.
Advanced Placement (AP)
These courses are college level courses offered on high school campuses by high school teachers. They follow a specific set of curricula in preparation for the College Board AP exam offered in May. Students have an opportunity to earn college credit depending on the college they enroll in, test taken and score earned.
Dual Enrollment/CCAP (10th-12th grade depending on course offerings)
These courses are college courses offered on high school campuses during the school day. Students earn both college and high school credit. Courses offered are UC and/or CSU transferrable. Students are not responsbile for any costs associated with Dual Enrollment/CCAP courses.
Concurrent Enrollment
Students can take up to two community college courses through the college directly (either in person or online). Students do not have to pay the per unity tuition costs while enrolled in high school but would be responsible for any books, supplies and any additional fees. Note - many course do offer no cost or low cost book sections in which students can enroll. Students earn college credit and may choose to also earn high school credit by providing the high school with a college transcript.
