If you plan to apply to a 4 year college/university, you MAY need to take the ACT or SAT
Please see each college/university admissions and financial aid websites to determine if/how they will be used in the admissions process and/or scholarship considerations
UC schools - ACT/SAT will NOT be used for admissions or scholarship decision
CSU schools - ACT/SAT will NOT be used for admissions but could be used for English/Math placement if needed (AP Scores and CAASPP results can also be used)
Out of state/private schools – must check EACH college individually

Seniors who are planning on applying to a 4-year college/university that requires the SAT/ACT should take the December test dates at the very latest. NOTE: Some universities require the test to be completed by the NOVEMBER test date.
Juniors
Juniors
Both the SAT and ACT test on content and curriculum that most students receive through the end of their 11th grade year. We recommend that Juniors planning on applying to and attending a 4-year college/university directly out of high school should take the SAT or ACT in LATE Spring of their Junior year (March test dates or later) to take full advantage of the knowledge they will gain throughout the year.
