The Grade 1 and 2 class has been having tons of fun in the sun....and snow!!! We have begun our Friends Program where we learn more about ourselves and our relationship skills with our peers. It has allowed for lots of games and role playing to help us problem solve.
In Math we are launching our Patterns are Everywhere Unit and continue to work on Number Sense, particularly adding with and without regrouping.
Ms. Smart has started singing our Christmas Song with us and we are practising in our classsroom as well.
Student Led conferences were a succes and a chance for us to show what we know and what we are working towards.
The Grade 1/2 class is up and running for the 2022/2023 school year.

So much fun in grade 1! What a fun filled month we have had enjoying one another's company & time outside. We have butterflies ready to hatch in our classroom this month and we participated in our very first Science Fair!
So much to do in grade 2! We have been able to spend a lot of time in the mud this spring and there were no complaints! We have studied life cycles this term, particularly that of the painted lady.
Puddles, puddles everywhere!!! We have been enjoying time on the playground and taking advantage of some sun by spending extra time learning outdoors!! The greenhouse is calling us!
March was a fun-filled month in Grade 1&2! We’ve been exploring patterns in our daily Math and continue to examine Objects & Materials in Science. We had the pleasure of joining Agriculture in the Classroom this month for,The Great Canadian Farm Tour where we had virtual tours of many different farms across Canada. Aski came to visit us from Turtle Island and tell us stories of the past.
We said goodbye to our friend, Shakila. She is off to Toronto to be close to family. We will miss you Shakila!
Fun in February for the Grade 1&2’s!
Mrs Bogard has been working hard with the Grade 1 and 2’s on Zentangles. Check out the animal tangles we created!!!
December was jam packed with holiday spirit but it did not slow down the reading and writing goals we set forth to launch term 2! We have built our capacity and stamina in writing and responding through the written word. We also brought our friends with us to school to share our writing experiences!
A few elves snuck into the classroom this December and were able to partake in classroom activities. We also celebrated our last day before the break with music, treats and some new toys!

Grade 1+2 was actively involved in Education Week, the theme was, “Learning for the Future.” We enjoyed being able to collaborate with our MAC school family and spend time buddy reading and maybe, ok forsure, some visiting!
This month we examined the components of Story. We used several different modes to tell or retell stories. Creating sentences, art, objects and materials, you name it, we used it to tell and retell events.
We had the opportunity to take a Field Trip with the entire school to the Serhan Field where we learned about harvesting and the main commodities in Saskatchewan. We even had a game of acre tag!
Centre time is always a favorite down in Grade One and Two! We used objects and materials to build and explore during centers.
Fun in Grade One! During Science we have explored the characteristics of animals and humans. We have also examined animal habitats and coverings.
During last recess we have spent time walking around our beautiful ball diamonds and playing games amongst the diamonds. We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful space we can use.
The students came across a poor Robin tangled in string and litter one afternoon at recess. We called upon Mrs. Johanson to assist us in what we are calling, “Project Robin Rescue!”
Grade 1 and 2 launched a new Unit in Math recently; Geometry! We have enjoyed the hands on learning opportunities this unit has allowed for.
Our flower garden is in and our root vegetables are well on their way. We are using our Scientific Nature Journals to complete ground observations. We are examining animals, insects, plants and other life forms.
We received a donation into our classroom that we all enjoyed reading and learning more about. Thank you Aubree!
We are working on Materials and Objects in Grade 1 Science and loving that we can spend a good part of the lesson outdoors!
May sure came in like a lion this year!!! A last minute snowfall to keep up on our toes!
It wouldn’t be a Friday if we didn’t have a pet come for a show and tell visit!
Grade 1 and 2 students have been busy writing narratives and friendly letters this month.
The Grade 1’s did a day of, “Grade 2 in training” to kick off Term 3!
