This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with different themes and fun activities! We connected this to language arts with writing and art as well!
Cat in the Hat
Crazy hat/hair day
Green Eggs and Ham
We read the book "Green Eggs and Ham" and tried green eggs (deviled eggs with green food colouring)!
There's a Wocket in my Pocket!
We created wockets of our own and wrote about what we would keep in our pockets!
Wacky Wednesday and Fox in Socks
We wore all things wacky! We created wacky characters and coloured crazy socks.
1 Fish, 2 Fish
We used bingo dabbers to create a background of red and white stripes then used crayons and watercolours to create a fish from the book!
Horton Hears a Who
We read the book "Horton Hears a Who" and watched the movie in our pjs. We also got a special visit from The Cat in the Hat!
We drew Horton carrying the Who's and wrote about kindness because "a person is a person no matter how small."
Goldfish Math
Learning Intention: Using goldfish, students will write subtraction sentences.
We connected our book of the day, "1 Fish, 2 Fish" to our math unit of subtraction within 10!
Subtraction Hunt
Learning Intention: Students will subtract numbers within 10.
Students searched the hallway for 12 subtraction facts to solve!
Social Studies
Learning Intention: Students will learn about culture within the Francophone community.
After learning about the Francophone community we created artwork in the theme of Henri Matis' "Painting with scissors." Students used only scissors and glue to create a spring themed art piece.
