Learning Intention: Students will learn the roles and responsibilites of people in the community.
Mrs.Waters came in to read us the book Stone Soup. We then followed the steps of the little boys recipe. We added a stone first, then our broth, vegetables, beef bone, barley and bay leaves. We waited until it "bubbled and boiled" and smelt good. We tried the soup and voted on whether we thought it was yummy or yucky. Then we completed writing the steps to make the soup in our visual journals.
Learning Intention: Students learn the roles and responsibilities of a vet. Students will learn about buying by using fake money to buy goods and services.
Students brought in a stuffed animal to take to the vet. Students were given money to spend on grooming and the vet. They brought their pet to the vet and groomer and saw the cashier if they needed money or change.
Learning Intention: Students will add numbers within 20.
As we finish our unit on adding numbers within 20 we are completing a math mystery in which students work to solve the mystery of the angry adder.
Learning Intention: Students will explore how thoughts and feelings can be expressed through poetry.
Over the last month students have been voting in poetry battles to discover their favourite poems. They have also been learning about different types of poems.
Learning Intention: Students will write a story about an experience they had.
For our last personal narrative in our unit, students built towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks with a partner. They tried to build the tallest tower and then wrote about their experience.
