I am so excited to start the new year with a great crew of kids. Once we have all documentation, I will be able to post photos with kiddos in them, but for now I can share a few things that we did in the first three days of school!
This story has a surprise ending and students learn we all have feelings on the first day of school, even teachers!
We talked about how we were feeling on the first day of school, and realized there were all kinds of feelings, like excitment, sadness, happiness or nervousness.
This book is about an excited bunny who is so happy to finally have kids to read his book!
We listened to this story, which talks about how everyone has an invisible bucket above their heads. When you helps someone, be kind or give a compliment, you fill someone's bucket and as a result you fill your own. Saying or doing something unkind empties people's buckets, as well as your own. We brainstormed as a class ways that we can be bucket fillers and pledged to be bucket fillers in our school!
This is a great book that talks about David's experiences at school. It was a great discussion piece that helped us shape some class rules that are important for everyone to stay safe and happy!

We were busy with alphabet centres, dice games and learning rules and routines. I hope everyone had a great long weekend!
