Grade 3 Fun: Hide-and-Seek Adventure in English!

The third graders had a wonderful time creating their very own original picture books! Each student carefully hid their favorite animals within a page, turning their books into fun and interactive guessing games. As they shared with their friends, they excitedly gave hints and asked questions in English, making learning both playful and engaging.

３年生は、自分だけのオリジナル絵本作りを楽しみました！それぞれのページにお気に入りの動物をこっそり隠し、楽しくて参加型のクイズ絵本に仕上げました。友だちと発表し合う中で、英語でヒントを出したり質問をしたりして、わくわくしながら学ぶことができました。

Grade 6: Let’s Talk About Our Dreams!

The sixth graders had a fun and exciting time exploring their future! They reviewed the different club activities they are interested in joining in junior high school, sharing their ideas with energy and enthusiasm.

They also exchanged cards with their friends while talking about the jobs they hope to have in the future, building both confidence and communication skills through the Lucky Card Game.

To make the lesson even more engaging, they played an exciting Typhoon Game, where they practiced saying which clubs they want to join and what they want to be. Working in pairs, they supported each other and earned points for their teams, filling the classroom with energy, teamwork, and smiles.

６年生：将来の夢について話そう！

６年生は、将来について楽しくワクワクしながら学習しました。中学校で入りたい部活動について振り返り、意欲的に自分の考えを伝え合うことができました。

また、「ラッキーカードゲーム」を通して、将来なりたい職業について友達とカード交換をしながら話し、コミュニケーション力と自信を高めました。

さらに、授業をより盛り上げるために「台風ゲーム」を行い、入りたい部活動や将来の夢を英語で伝える練習をしました。ペアで協力しながら活動し、チームでポイントを競い合い、教室は活気と笑顔、そしてチームワークにあふれていました。

Grade 2: It`s a Vegetable Adventure!

The second graders went on a fun veggie adventure as they learned the names of different vegetables in English! They practiced the words together while enjoying the exciting “Pass the Box” game. As the music played, everyone happily danced, passed the box to their friends, and waited with excitement. When the music stopped, the lucky student picked a vegetable card and proudly said its name to the class with a clear voice. It was a joyful and energetic activity for everyone! 🥕🥦🎶

2年生：やさいアドベンチャー！

2年生は、英語でいろいろな野菜の名前を学びながら、楽しい“やさいアドベンチャー”に出かけました！みんなで言葉を練習しながら、ワクワクする「パス・ザ・ボックス」ゲームも楽しみました。

音楽が流れると、みんなは楽しく踊りながら箱を友だちに回し、ドキドキしながら順番を待っていました。音楽が止まると、選ばれた児童が野菜カードを引き、クラスのみんなに向かって大きな声で野菜の名前を発表しました。

The classroom was filled with inspiration as the fifth graders presented their heroes! Each student shared meaningful information about the people who they look up to. They spoke with enthusiasm and great confidence. Many students shared heroes close to their hearts—including family members, friends, and popular personalities who motivate them to do their best. What a wonderful way to wrap up the final unit of Grade 5! Well done, everyone!

Grade 3 Story Time: Listen, Think, and Guess!

The third graders had a fun and exciting time listening to the short Animal English story Who Are You? Working in pairs, they listened carefully to the narrator, paid attention to the clues in English, and helped each other answer the questions. It was wonderful to see the students cooperating with their friends while building their confidence in understanding English sentences and expressions.

With graduation just around the corner, the sixth graders in FUNGLISH class took time to revisit their favorite school memories. Through creative Canva presentations, students shared the moments they enjoyed the most and the experiences that made their school life memorable. It was a heartwarming opportunity to look back on the joyful times they spent with their friends and teachers. Among the favorite memories were exciting events such as the school trip, sports day, field trips, club activities, and many other fun moments they experienced together.

卒業がもうすぐ近づく中、FUNGLISHの授業で6年生はこれまでの学校生活の思い出を振り返る時間を持ちました。

The fourth graders had a blast interviewing their friends about their favorite spots at school! After tallying the votes, the winners are in: GYM, PLAYGROUND, and LIBRARY took the top three spots. They absolutely enjoy playing with their friends and exploring different fascinating books.

With excitement and big smiles, the first graders mastered fruit vocabulary through the fun “Uber Eats” game. Using their paper fruit bags, they confidently exchanged cards and joyfully spoke with one another—turning simple words into meaningful conversations.

With growing confidence, the third graders held up their animal cards and asked, “Who are you?” Through friendly games of janken and collecting cute signs, they practiced communication, built friendships, and learned through fun and cooperation.

The third graders proudly showcased their original 3-HINT quizzes to their friends. They used English hints supported by colorful and creative drawings to make their quizzes clear and interesting. Their classmates listened attentively, used the hints to guess, and answered in English. Through this activity, the students demonstrated growing confidence and enthusiasm in using English while enjoying learning together.

Grade 5: Discovering and Introducing Famous Places in Japan to the ALTs

The fifth graders introduced various famous prefectures in Japan and shared what ALTs could enjoy in each location, including places to visit, attractions to see, and local foods to try. They used English expressions to present their ideas clearly and spoke with growing confidence. Through this activity, the students developed their speaking skills while understanding and appreciating the Japan’s unique culture. The ALTs expressed their excitement about visiting these places and experiencing them firsthand soon.

5年生：日本の有名な場所を知り、ALTの先生方に紹介しよう

This week, the third graders took on a fun challenge by answering and creating mini-quizzes for their friends using helpful hints. They used colors and shapes to give clues and, with growing confidence, practiced the target sentence “What's this?”/ “It’s a/an ___.” while guessing the fruit quiz answers.

Grade 1: Red, Blue, Yellow—Let’s Learn Colors! 🌈

The first graders joined the Funglish class this week and enthusiastically danced and sang the Hello Song with clear and cheerful voices. Learning colors became even more exciting as they played fun games such as “What Color Is It?” actively identifying the colors of the pictures in English. They also used real communication by asking the teachers their favorite colors and searching for the correct color cards during the Touch the Color Game.

The fourth graders enjoyed learning English through a pizza-themed activity. They practiced simple English questions and answers such as “What do you want?” and “I want …,” while talking with their classmates about their favorite pizza toppings.

Using the Kumamoto application on their tablets, the students created their own original pizzas and enjoyed sharing their ideas and choices with friends.

The sixth graders brought their ideas to life by creating informative posters on Padlet to help protect endangered animals. Using eye-catching graphics and visuals, they raised awareness while expressing their own thoughts about environmental problems and the solutions in the brainstorming activity.

The fourth graders enjoyed a fun interview activity with their friends. They confidently asked their classmates in English about the ingredients they wanted in their parfaits.

Using the Kumamoto application, students designed parfaits for their friends. The pictures were so appetizing that everyone was excited and could not wait to see the finished designs.

４年生は、友だちと一緒に楽しいインタビュー活動を行いました。英語で、パフェに入れたい材料について友だちに自信をもって質問することができました。

くまもとアプリケーションを使って、友だちのためにパフェをデザインしました。どの写真もとてもおいしそうで、みんな完成を見るのを楽しみにしていました。

Grade 5: Welcome to Takase Restaurant!

The fifth graders became restaurant staff and customers for a day. The staff presented their delicious menu and decided on the prices, while the customers actively ordered food and paid in cash using play money. Through this activity, the students demonstrated their English communication skills while accurately calculating prices and change using their math knowledge.

5年生は、一日限定でレストランの店員とお客さんになりました。店員役の児童は、おいしそうなメニューを英語で紹介し、値段を決めました。お客さん役の児童は、積極的に注文をし、模擬のお金を使って支払いを行いました。この活動を通して、英語でのコミュニケーション力を発揮するとともに、算数で学んだ知識を生かして、正確に金額やおつりを計算することができました。

Grade 3: Designing Cool Sweatshirts for Our Teachers

With bright smiles and lots of energy, the third graders welcomed the new year in their first English class. They started the year by creating colorful sweatshirt designs made from playful shapes for their teachers. They confidently asked their teachers questions in English and used colorful shapes in their designs.

Spreading Christmas Cheer in Funglish Lessons

Students from 1st to 4th grade enjoyed this week’s Christmas lessons! The classrooms were filled with music as they sang cheerful Christmas carols, and with excitement as they played fun group games such as cup games, bingo, hopscotch, Present Relays, and Pass the Present.

They also made their own original Christmas cards and exchanged them with their friends. In addition, students shared their Christmas wishes by writing them on colorful ornaments and wrapped up the lessons by designing their very own Christmas trees. Smiles, laughter, and holiday cheer were everywhere!

The fourth graders did a great job in the Word Quiz Competition! They worked in teams and used three hints to guess each mystery word. They showed strong teamwork, focus and determination. We were so happy see their bright smiles and hard work from beginning to end!

Grade 6: Let`s Light Up the Takase Christmas Showcase 2025!

The sixth graders truly felt the Christmas spirit as they participated in the Takase Christmas Showcase 2025. Wearing festive headbands and hats, they confidently introduced their items—such as stationery, favorite belongings, clothing, and food. They also cheered one another on and learned about the origin of each item and how these connections link everyone together.

６年生：高瀬クリスマスショーケース2025を盛り上げよう！

６年生は「高瀬クリスマスショーケース2025」に参加し、クリスマスの雰囲気を存分に感じていました。フェスティブなヘッドバンドや帽子を身につけ、文房具やお気に入りの物、服、食べ物などのアイテムを自信をもって紹介しました。仲間同士で声援を送り合いながら、それぞれのアイテムの由来や、それらのつながりが皆をどのように結びつけているのかも学びました。

Grade 1: Sunny, Windy, Snowy—First Graders Master the Weather!

The first graders had a great time learning all about the weather this month! They proudly said “It’s sunny!”, “It’s windy!”, and “It’s snowy!” with big voices and lots of confidence. We used fun gestures to help them remember the words easily. Their favorite part was the LUCKY WEATHER GAME—everyone was moving, and happily exchanging cards with their friends!

The fifth graders took on the role of tour guides in the Funglish Room! They guided their classmates to their “dream place” using simple and fun English directions. Students were smiling as they explored the room and enjoyed English in action.

The sixth graders proudly presented their original sandwiches in groups — and their creativity was amazing! Each team designed a sandwich based on their own tastes. We saw healthy veggie sandwiches, meat sandwiches, and even sweet fruit sandwiches. Every idea was unique and full of personality. What a delicious and exciting activity!

The 4th graders strengthened their letter recognition by reading and spelling out different English words they see around them, building both their vocabulary and confidence. The 5th graders had a blast this week playing Town Bingo and Karuta! Using their tablets, they made their own original bingo cards to learn places in town. They also practiced on, in, under, and by while finding cats and dogs on the Karuta cards. Everyone had fun learning and playing together!

This week, the 5th graders had a fun time learning English through tablet games. They played “What’s the First Letter?” and “Keyboard Jump”, where they practiced finding the first letters of words and typing different English words correctly. Everyone was excited to see their scores and tried again to get higher points. It was a fun and engaging way to learn spelling and word recognition.

This week, students actively enjoyed speaking in English while participating in fun games and activities. They confidently used target phrases to identify Halloween characters, ask questions, and cheer on their classmates. Through activities like relays, puzzles, dances, and group challenges, students also showed excellent teamwork, supporting each other and collaborating to achieve their goals.

Grade 5: Introducing the Takase Teachers to Our ALTs

The fifth graders shined during their presentation in the class. They introduced the Takase teachers, sharing fun facts about their personalities and abilities with the ALTs. We were surprised to learn that some teachers can do yoga or play golf! The students spoke clearly and confidently, showing great effort in expressing their ideas. It was wonderful to see them enjoy presenting and making the class lively and fun.

５年生は、クラスでの発表で輝きを見せました。ALTと一緒に、高瀬小学校の先生たちを紹介し、先生たちの性格や特技について楽しいエピソードを発表しました。ヨガができる先生やゴルフが得意な先生がいることを知って、みんな驚きました！児童たちは、自分の考えをはっきりと自信をもって発表し、一生懸命に取り組んでいました。発表を楽しみながら、クラスを明るく楽しい雰囲気にしてくれたことがとても素晴らしかったです。

The third graders had fun reviewing capital letters in an exciting ABC race! They worked in pairs and took turns arranging the letters from A to Z. After reviewing, they joined the FUNGLISH shop experience, picking out the letters of their initials to design their own unique name cards.

The fifth graders recorded their friends as they rehearsed for next week’s presentation through their tablets. They’ll be introducing the TAKASE teachers to the ALTs, and these practice sessions helped them prepare. They spoke clearly and confidently, giving big smiles to both listeners and fellow speakers.

Grade 4: Look What’s Inside! My Original Pencil Case

The fourth graders have been busy designing their very own pencil cases, and the results were awesome! Some were bursting with color, some had cool patterns, and each one showed a different side of their creativity. They were so proud to show their designs to their friends and share their favorite pens, pencils, and other fun stationery items. The classroom was filled with lots of imagination! Great job, everyone!

Grade 3: Let’s Go on a FUNGLISH Town Adventure!

The third graders had a fantastic time exploring FUNGLISH Town, searching for the capital letters of the alphabet hidden in pictures. Working in pairs, they eagerly identified each letter and encircled it, turning their letter recognition practice into a fun and interactive adventure. They also enjoyed playing the pointing game with their friends while practicing their letters together.

The sixth graders showcased the countries they want to visit using colorful travel brochures made in CANVA. They introduced many famous landmarks and popular foods from their chosen countries. Their clear voices, expressive gestures, and beautiful smiles made their presentations truly amazing! Good job, everyone!

The fourth graders learned this week’s new vocabulary: calendar, magnet, marker, pencil sharpener. They had fun exploring these words through songs and games like Go Fish Game. In this game, they played rock, scissors, paper, then the questions began! ‘Do you have a pencil?’ ‘Do you have a pen?’

The Funglish room was filled with voices as the 4th graders played eagerly, determined to collect as many cards as they could.

Grade 6: Spelling and Canva Designing

The sixth graders practiced spelling English words through the Memory Run Challenge. Working actively in pairs, they checked each word’s spelling and wrote them on the board. It was wonderful to see them collaborating and having fun at the same time.

We were so happy to welcome the second graders back to Funglish class, and their bright smiles warmed our hearts. Together, we learned about different weather through songs and fun games like ‘Simon Says’ and ‘Lucky Weather’ with an online roulette. The class cheered for the lucky winners, and their joyful shouts made the lesson unforgettable.

The fourth graders started Unit 5 full of energy! They shared the English words they knew for stationery like ‘pencil’ and ‘notebook’. We shared lots of laughter as we played Touch Game. It’s like karuta, but with extra fun! Don’t touch a card until the teacher shouts ‘Touch!’

Using their tablets, they became little world travelers—searching for famous landmarks to visit and delicious foods to try. We kicked off another Funglish Time adventure with our awesome fourth graders. During our 20-minute and lunch breaks, we played exciting games like Fruit Basket, card games, and more. The best part? Seeing them enjoy using English beyond the classroom—learning, laughing, and having fun together!

Grade 3: Unit 5: What do you like?

The third graders showed off their confidence by playing the UBER EATS game, where they eagerly asked their friends, “What food do you like?” From pizza to sushi, their conversations were full of smiles, laughter, and delicious imagination.

Grade 4: Unit 4: What time is it?

The fourth graders got creative and designed their very own paper watches. After that, they proudly shared their favorite time of the day whether it`s snack time, lunch time, and bed time, their smiles made every hour feel special.

4年生は紙の腕時計を作りました。その時計を使って自分のお気に入りの時間を伝え合いました！

Grade 5: Unit 3: Can you play dodgeball?

The fifth graders shined on stage as they confidently delivered their mini-presentations with friends. Using pictures and lively gestures, they proudly introduced what they can do which truly impressed everyone. They are now all set and excited for their speaking presentation next week.

The sixth graders are gearing up for the TAKASE EXPO 2025! Each student chose a country they dream of visiting and began preparing to showcase all the fun, culture, and experiences that can be enjoyed there. From food to famous spots, their tasks are turning into a global adventure right inside Takase!
