February certainly kept us all on our toes with all the winter weather! Between snow days, cancellations, and delays, it was a busy and unpredictable month. Thank you to all of our families and staff for your flexibility and understanding navigating the changing schedules. I know we are all looking forward to the arrival of spring!
Despite the weather, the past few weeks have been full of fun. With two half-day programs and two full-day programs, students had extra time to play, explore, and spend time together. One of the highlights was welcoming the Science Center’s Bubble Show, which was a big hit with the students.
I have also started planning for the end of the school year and am excited about the fun events ahead. Be sure to mark your calendars for some upcoming favorites, including our Half Day Program and trip to Mystic Seaport on May 22nd, our Talent Show on June 9th, and our June Fun Days featuring Field Day, Water Day, a Laser Show, a Reptile Show, and more.
I’m also looking forward to our Family BBQ and Baseball Night on June 5. This will be a change for current Wolverines Forward staff and families to come together and celebrate another successful school year. Be sure to check out the flyer below for more details and Click here to sign up!

This month AM Wolverines crafted many heart crafts for Valentine's Day and Heart Health week. We have made many winter crafts ice skates, mittens , snow men and have even started with some spring birds for wishful thinking! Due to the snow outside we have been going to the gym for exercise every morning. We are working on offering some different types of games in the gym and we are all looking forward to some nice spring weather to get back outside.
During February, WFPK focused on letters and numbers through hands-on, play based learning using a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom theme. Students practiced letter recognition through tracing, building letters with Play-Doh, sensory alphabet searches, crafts, and simple sign language. Valentine’s activities included creative projects, a classroom dance party, and thoughtful discussions around the question “What does love mean,” with children sharing their own ideas. The month also included a fizzy science experiment, sensory play with slime to support fine motor skills, and outdoor time when weather allowed, including chalk painting on the blacktop.
This month our focus has been Arts & Crafts, and the students have loved exploring their creativity! With Valentine’s Day as our theme, we made special projects including Valentine’s cards, love bugs, and other heart-filled crafts.
Through these activities, students practiced fine motor skills, following directions, and expressing kindness and friendship. We are so proud of their creativity and hard work!
First graders became World Explorers this month! We traveled across Asia learning about different countries, cultures, and traditions. One highlight was learning about Chinese New Year. Students explored the meaning behind the celebration, discovered new traditions, and even created their own colorful paper lanterns to celebrate. It was a fun way to learn about the world and experience a new culture together! This month will will explore the arts and all things Spring!
The month of February brought the Olympic spirit to our second graders. We learned about the origins and traditions of the Olympics. We talked about various sports and learned what Curling was. We learned the difference between Skeleton, Luge and Bobsled racing. The students then designed, created and tested their own race course for downhill skiing and sledding. After many design changes and testing, the race course was ready for the competitions to begin! It was intense and lots of fun! Olympic medals and certificates were given out and enjoyed by all!
February was an energy filled month for 3rd and 4th grade, as we spent this month learning basketball skills in the gym! Students engaged in different skill-based games that focused on dribbling, shooting, and working together with others. We also spent time this month talking about the 2026 Winter Olympics and learning about some of the special events and moments that occur at the Olympic games. In March, we will start to move outdoors (barring the weather!) to dive into the world of gardening and bugs.
