Our first 2 months of Wolverines have been going wonderfully! We spent time learning new routines and behavior expectations. We worked a lot on transitioning safely in the halls and playing safely on the playground. We spent time getting to know each other and making new friends.
Before school we have been having lots of fun during centers. Some of our the favorites have been circuits, Legos, magnet tiles, and dramatic play. Our crafts have been focused on all things fall; pumpkins, bats, trees, and scarecrows!
Our Pre-k friends at Wolverines Forward have been keeping busy! Our home dramatic play center has been transformed into a farmers market dramatic play center, where students can pick apples from the apple orchid, play cafe', and pick out fresh fruit.
We focused on fall and harvesting with songs like "5 Little Pumpkins" and "Autumn Leaves Are Falling". Our sensory table was full of "ingredients" for making pies and then had a carved out pumpkin to explore. With the colder weather students are keeping warm when outside by playing on swings, hide and seek, and lots of tag!
Kindergarten had so many new things to learn at the beginning of the school year! We focused on a lot on understanding the new rules and expectations of kindergarten and at Wolverines. We also made a lot of new friends and got to explore all this newness together. In October we did STEM exploration focused on motion. We used cars and ramps to understand gravity. We also made and flew paper airplanes.
During September we had STEM explorers and we created many exciting projects with Legos like marble mazes, zip-lines, and even boats that float!
In October, we explored the unique and vibrant cultures and countries of South America by creating Guatemalan worry dolls, South American pan flutes, and animals from Brazil's Amazon Rainforest!
Second grade has been busy exploring, experimenting and learning. In September, we started our journey studying and watching videos of National Parks. Our first one was Yellowstone We learned about Geysers and studied the animals the park. Next, we studied the Everglades. We learned the differences between crocodiles and alligators. Next we learned about the animals and birds at Acadia National Park. Lastly, we studied volcanos and made a "Fizzing volcano" craft. The most important thing we learned is to "LEAVE NO TRACE" not only at the National Parks but also the environment around us.
Our class was also excited to participate in the Chili's "Color a Pepper" fundraiser to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
October we focused on all things fall. Leaves changing colors, apples, and pumpkins!
3rd and 4th grades had Art Explorers for September and focused on getting to know each other and fall crafts. We had Fitness and Nutrition Explorers for October. We learned about, and played, different sports including basketball, soccer, and baseball. We focused a lot on sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork.
