The Young Mathematical Story Authors (YMSA) competition is the world's first annual international competition set up to encourage young mathematics learners (aged 4-16 years old) from around the world to creatively embed their mathematics learning in a meaningful and engaging context through creating their own mathematical story picture books.

Inspired by the AMT’s Australian Mathematics Competition, Kangourou sans Frontières (KSF) is now the largest maths competitions in the world, with more than 6 million participants each year. Held in March, the KSF is a great opportunity for students to experience maths in a competition environment prior to the AMC in August.

This competition is open to all students.
Date: 24 -26 March (entry by 17 March). Arrangements may be able to be made for students attending the junior cricket tournaments.
Cost: $6.50 (can be bundled with CAT and AMC for $18).
The Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition gives students the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills through algorithmic thinking. The competition incorporates unique ‘three-stage tasks’ that encourage students to develop informal algorithms and apply them to test data of increasing size or complexity.

First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students.
Like all our competitions, the AMC contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend your students’ problem-solving skills.

The Centre for Assessment and Monitoring (CAM) provides the annual KIWI English, Mathematics, and Science, competitions for Primary and Secondary schools. These competitions are skills-based and closely align with the New Zealand Curriculum.
These competitions are open to students in Years 9 & 10.

ICAS is a historic academic competition that has been sat by over 10 million school students from 16,000 schools across 41 countries since 1981. It recognises academic performance in a way similar to sports or the arts, with engaging, fun questions designed by psychometricians, education measurement experts and experienced teachers to test students’ higher-order thinking skills. ICAS also provides rich insights into students’ strengths and weaknesses, helping teachers to accelerate learning outcomes and unlock student potential.
