Year 11

New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners Level 1

  • Headway modules: specific to subject area two modules per year (need to decide which books fit with which departments)

  • First module in and completed by Term 2 week 7

  • Second Module in and completed by Term 4 week 7

  • 6 modules to be completed in Year 11 if student's learning is all based on modules compulsory: personal reflection

New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1

  • If the student is capable then we will discuss at IEP the next steps: foundation skill or Ready for Work/work preparation

Timeline

A timeline has been developed that works towards achieving the NZQA Skills for Living for Supported Learners Level 1 qualification (with an optional strand for Skills for Working) or NZQA Foundation Skills Level 1/2 qualification by the time a student transitions out of high school.

Yr 11 and 12 students will specifically use the following SPEC modules. From the Leisure bracket will be 'Music', from Vocational will be 'Money Skills', 'Personal Reflection', 'Preparing for Work'. From Life Skills will be 'Relationships' and from the Transition bracket will be 'Meals for Me', and 'Preparing to Drive'. There is scope for individual interest modules.
