Supported Learning - Greymouth High School

Year 10

Students are supported to work through a variety of certificates at different levels. The Key Competencies certificate is the baseline certificate requiring completion of 10 modules. Skills for Living is an NZQA qualification that requires the completion of 11 modules. Both qualifications use the selected modules, but just have a different expectation of work required to pass.

New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners Level 1

  • Headway modules: specific to subject area two modules (20 hours per module) per year per subject area

  • First module in and completed by Term 2 week 7

  • Second Module in and completed by Term 4 week 7

  • 6 modules to be completed by year 10 if the student's learning is all by modules

New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1

Specific Preparation for Employment and Citizenship (SPEC)

Also selected as the most fitting for students at this stage of their learning are the SPEC modules Life Skills 'Health and Hygiene', I.C.E. - In Case of Emergency". From the Leisure bracket we will use 'Horse Riding' and 'Keep Fit'. From the Vocational bracket we will use 'Managing Self'. There is scope for individual interest modules.
