DO NOW: Repeat the drawing exercise. Make it as neat as possible in the fastest time possible. Add the date and time.

Learning Intention: How to effectively communicate using a website.

Success criteria:

  • Create a clear and easy to follow structure
  • Consistent headings
  • Well thought out written work with no spelling mistakes
  • Interesting and well photographed pictures

Student instructions

Find your other 2 drawing exercises. Take a photo of the first one and the best one from this week. Add the first one to Week 1 and the second to Week 2. Add a comment on what you learnt and what you think your next step is to improve for each week.

NOW personalise your website by taking a picture of the equipment you have learnt about- set squares and T- squares and drawing boards. You could add yourself to the picture using these if you want.We will work on this for half the lesson and then you will share your website with your neighbour and Mrs Chapman.


Monday P1, 11 February

DO NOW: In groups of 3 write down as many expectations and routines as you can remember without looking at the website.

Learning Intention: I can apply the basic drawing conventions to make simple 2D and 3D shapes.

Success criteria:

  • I can draw simple geometric shapes using grids- triangle, circle, hexagon, octagon.
  • I can draw cubes using oblique, isometric and 1 & 2 point perspective.
  • I can use light and dark lines and 'crows feet'

Thursday P5, 14 February 2019

Do Now: Draw at least 3 oblique and 3 isometric cubes evenly spaced on an A3 sheet of paper.

Learning Intention: I can use colour and tone to create form

Success criteria:

  • I can use 3 different shades of pencil to make an object look 3 dimensional
  • I can use 3 different shades of the same colour to make an object look 3 dimensional
  • I can use an identified light source to position the shades

Student instructions

Watch the youtube clip to the left and draw and shade these shapes on a new piece of A3 paper.

Monday P1, 18 February 2019

Do now: Freehand draw an oblique and isometric cube 4cm square and quickly shade using pencil to make it look 3D - see above picture for oblique cube

Learning Intention:I can draw basic lines and angles using a T-square and set squares

Success criteria:

  • I can set my paper up correctly using the T-square and masking tape.
  • I can butt my T-square against the side of my drawing board and have my set square butted up against the T-square (no gaps).
  • I can neatly use the correct weight of line and type of pencil for the drawing style I am using.

Do Now: Find all your drawings, make sure they are named and place them in your folder

Do Now: Make an entry on your Drawing for design website about which room you have chosen to redesign in your house and why. You can do this in writing or you can make a video. Add the measurements and some pictures of the room if you have them. (Remember this was your homework). No-one had done homework so

Once you have done this you will receive a WELL DONE certificate.

Learning Intention: How to use Planner 5D or Sweet home 3D

Success criteria:

  • I know how to drag and drop rooms and objects into the workspace
  • I can change from 2D to 3D views
  • I can change the size, colour and texture of objects

Introduction to Assessment: Brief Development

Make a CAD model of your room as it is now and take a screenshot- add to your website.

Extension: Make a mood board of furniture/ colours/ art technology you would like to put in your room.

Ways to present:

  • google drawing or slide
  • put images onto a google doc the size you want them, print them out and collage on paper

Do Now : Publish your website, change the sharing settings to global and share it with me- view only.

By the end of today you should have on your website:-

  • A Planner 5D design of your room as it is now.
  • A short statement (brief) or video saying what room you are redesigning and why.
  • A mood board (see info above)

Extension:

Write or video a list of key attributes you want in your bedroom e.g Double bed, mezzanine floor, wide screen T.V, surf board, guitar, white curtains, duck egg blue couch.

If you have not done so share your website with the teacher, make sure you have published your site and that the sharing settings are on global.

Add images/ change your site to fit the website checkers format. Look at the other students websites for ideas.

Student Instructions: Complete 2 different Planner 5D designs for your room (or draw them on paper) For HOMEWORK: show your designs to your parents or caregivers and get them to write down on paper or on your website which design they like best and why or they might like parts of each design or have a different idea for you to consider.

Model Making

Do Now: Watch the teacher demo to see the steps you need to take to make a model of your room

LI: I can make a scale model of my room

SC: I can use a scale of 4cm= 1 m

I can measure, mark and cut accurately

My corners are 'square' (90 degrees) because I used a set square

Monday 18 March

Do Now: Check the bookwork checker and make sure you have updated and published your website after the last changes you made.

LI and SC' s the same as last time

Student Instructions: figure out the total size of cardboard you will need to make your model

e.g if you room is 3(w)x4m(l)x 2.5m (h) then using a scale of 1m=4cm

3m x4cm =12 cm

4mx4cm=16cm

2.5mx4cm=10cm

so.... your width of cardboard will be 12+10+10=32

and length will be 16+10+10=36cm

LAST DAY- Do Now: Open the bookwork checker above and make sure you have done the Brief and Key Attributes. If you don't know how to do these look at the website of someone who has already done them to help you.


Student Instructions: Write a brief- a short sentence about which room you chose to redesign and why.

If you have not done so complete 2 concepts (2 different planner 5D designs for your room) and get stakeholder feedback from a parent on which one they like best and why.

You have until the end of the week to complete this before I mark your work.
