Do now: Find the link to my website in your emails and bookmark it. Explore the website for the next 5 minutes.

Learning Intention: I understand how to find and navigate Mrs C's learning website

Success criteria: I can find the TODAY page for my class

I can find the information about Mrs C and I can remember at least 3 class routines and expectations for this class

Student Instructions: Listen to teacher introduction, take part in group discussions and watch and participate in Ted talk drawing exercises.

NOTE: issues with chromecast meant we ran out of time and could not watch the youtube clip so did it on Tuesday

Tuesday 26 March

Do Now: Without using your devices-In groups of 3 write down as many class routines as you can remember from yesterday.

Learning intention: I can learn to draw or improve my drawing skills

Success Criteria: I am open to learning and have a 'can do' attitude.

I have followed the youtube clip instructions to the best of my ability

I have stayed on task.

Student Instructions: Complete the do now exercise and then participate in the drawing exercises from the youtube clip above.

If time- set up your own 9DES website and share it with Mrs Chapman. Make sure you have changed the sharing settings to global

Look at 3 websites from 9TO then follow the steps shown to you by the teacher to set up your website for this class.

Find you cartoon pictures.

Choose the best one and photograph it and then place this on your website.

Put your drawings in a folder and name it using colourful block or bubble lettering


Thursday 28 March

Do Now: Draw 2 cartoon characters like the ones you did on Tuesday.

LI: I can document my work using a website

SC:

  • I can make a correctly labeled a new google site for this class- put your first name then 9SY-9DES
  • I can change the sharing settings to global, publish it and share it with Mrs Chapman
  • I can add my first entry of the best cartoon I have drawn and can give a reason why I think it is the best.

Again issues with chromecast not working meant that students drew and coloured in their name on their A3 folder using block or bubble letters

Monday 1 APril- wk 2

Do Now: Now that you know you can draw complete drawing exercise on the board on an A3 piece of paper-

Tuesday 2 April

Do Now: Time how long it takes you to redo the drawing exercise from yesterday.

If you have not done so share your website with me and change the sharing settings to global.

Find all your drawings and place them in your folder.

Learning intention: I can freehand draw basic geometric shapes

Success criteria: I can use crating to draw a triangle, circle, hexagon and octagon

I can draw an oblique and isometric cube using parallel lines and 'crow's feet',

Do Now: Quickly draw the shapes you learnt last time.

Success Criteria: I can draw a cube in oblique and isometric views (45 and 30 degree angles)

I can draw parallel lines and use 'crow's feet'.

Week 3-Monday 8 April

Do Now: Draw and render an isometric and oblique cube (see above for tips)

Tuesday 9 April

Do Now: Silent reading for 10 minutes

Learning Intention: I can make a visually interesting and informative website

Success Criteria:

  • I have used images of my own work that are clear, up the right way and uncropped.
  • I have added a title for each entry that makes sense
  • I have added a comment that gives information on what you have learnt and any issues you had and how you overcame them.
  • I have remembered to press 'publish'


Student Instructions:

  1. Complete Do Now (10 mins)
  2. Listen to teacher Instructions about how to improve your website (5mins)
  3. Add images and comments to your website (15 mins)
  4. In groups of 2 choose one of the class expectations and make a video of what this looks like and doesn't look like. Add this to an entry for Week 3- 9 April . (25 mins)
  5. Pack up (5 mins)

Thurs 10 April

Do Now: Watch the youtube clip and then follow the instructions to create the L shape

Learning Intention: I can demonstrate how to use instruments to draw a simple 3D shape.

Success Criteria:

  • I can set my paper up parallel to the edge of my drawing board
  • I can use my set square and T -square correctly
  • I have drawn a 3D L shape.

Extension: Draw another letter in 3D.


Mon 29 April

Do Now: Share with your neighbour what you did over the holidays then remember what they said and share with the whole class.

Student Instructions:

Watch the youtube clip and then follow the instructions to create the L shape. The teacher will also demonstrate step by step.

Tuesday 30 April

DO NOW: Silent reading.

LI: I can use Planner 5D to create a 3D model of a room in my house

SC: Room and furniture correctly positioned, sized and coloured.

Student Instructions:

Search up a programme called Planner 5D on your chromebook. Make sure they sign in or their work will not be saved. Have a play to figure out how it works.

THEN: Choose a room in your house that you would like to redesign. It could be your bedroom, the lounge or kitchen. Make a digital version of the room (model) as it is now. try to make the size of the room about right.

Once you have completed your design add a screenshot of the floor plan and 3D interior to your website.

EXTENSION: Make a digital model of your whole house

It is possible to change colours/ textures of furniture and floorings e.t.c. Most furniture will be locked but there will be basic versions of most things available. Sizes can be changed by clicking on the item in 2D mode.

  • I have shared my website with the teacher.
  • I have added a good quality image and comment which explains the image for each of the first 4 weeks.
  • I have customised my website to make it look more interesting and attractive.

Student Instructions: Website update day. Make sure you have a good quality image for the first 4 weeks with a comment explaining the image.

If you have completed this then start the instrumental drawing exercise sheet.

Some great work on your websites. Special mention goes to Caity for her very thorough entries excellent drawing skills and so far the only one to complete the first instrumental task. Also Mate for his excellent cubes and fun comments. Cam for his informative comments and Max for the largest amount of rendered cubes.

Introduction to Assessment: Brief Development

If you haven't already make a CAD model of the room you have chosen to redesign as it is now and take a screenshot- add to your website.

Extension: Make a mood board of furniture/ colours/ art/ technology e.t.c you would like to put in your room.

Ways to present:

  • google drawing or slide
  • put images onto a google doc the size you want them, print them out and collage on paper

Thursday 9 May

Do Now: Make an entry on your website about which room you have chosen to redesign in your house and why. You can do this in writing or you can make a video.

Homework: Add the measurements and some pictures of the room if you have them.

Learning Intention:How to develop an brief for your design project.

Success criteria:

  • I can identify a need or opportunity to redesign a room in my house
  • I can write or record a short statement of what I want to do and why.


Monday 13 May

Do Now: Get into groups of 5. You will be given a pile laminated A4 sheets that describe the Technology Cycle. Chocolate prizes for the group that can place them in the correct order first.

Learning Intention: I understand how to use the Technology cycle to design and plan a project.

Success Criteria:

  • I can place the stages of the tech cycle in the correct order
  • I can explain what to do at each key stage
  • I can demonstrate how to use each stage in my own project of redesigning my room.

Student Instructions:

You may choose to

    • Complete your Instrumental drawing exercise
    • Make a mood board of what you would like in your redesigned room.
    • Write a list of things you want to have in your dream room- this could include, colours, fabrics, textures, technology, furniture, items that reflect your sports and hobbies, words or images to reflect themes e.g beachy, relaxed or sporty, masculine

Extension: Make 2 different mood boards to for 2 different styles you might use in your redesign.

Student Instructions:

Write the key attributes for your design.

Extension: try to change some of your key attributes into specifications.

Show the teacher for a chocolate.

Key Attributes/ Specifications

Do Now: Silent reading then complete the Brief Development Pretest on the left

Learning Intention: I can identify the key attributes of my design.

Success Criteria:

  • I have completed a mood board and a written list of what I want in my redesigned room.
  • I know the difference between a key attribute and a specification
  • I can use these to identify the key things that will allow me to evaluate my final design as being 'fit for purpose' (meets the brief)

CHECKLIST OF TASKS

  3. Conceptual statement - a short sentence of what room you are redesigning, who for and why.

Monday 20 May

Website check point day

Do Now: You have 30 minutes to check your website and add anything you have forgotten before you:-

Get you neighbour to check your website for ways you could improve it. This could be things you have forgotten or ideas on how to make your site more interesting and informative. Get them to write their feedback on your website with the heading of today's date.

Learning Intention: I can collaborate with others to improve my website.

Success Criteria:

  • I try my best even when I am scared of failing
  • I am open to receiving constructive advice on how to improve my website.
  • I can give feedback in a positive, encouraging way.

EXTENSION: If you are up to date then you should have 2 different designs for how you would like your room to look (not including your room as it is now).

Get one person to give you feedback on which one they like the best in terms of both the looks (aesthetics) and function (how it will work as a space to move around in, sleep and undertake hobbies in ). Write this down on your website underneath your 2 designs.

Student Instructions: Work on completing all tasks set to this point and place images of each task on your website with clear, informative explanations.

REMEMBER: It does not count unless I see it on your website.

EXTENSION: We will be displaying our best work to date on a display board in the Tech corridor to get feedback on which of our 2 designs is the best. You will need to print out from a google doc:-

Your conceptual statement, key attributes, Original room (planner 5D), mood board and 2 concepts.

Tuesday 21 May

Do Now: Look at 3 peoples websites that you have not seen yet for ideas on how to improve yours.

Learning Intention: I can present my work in a visually appealing way

Success Criteria:

  • My header has an appropriate image
  • I have a correctly labeled entry for each week with an image that is clear and uncropped.
  • My explanations are easy to understand and have no spelling mistakes.
  • I have chosen a theme and my layout is visually interesting with consistent fonts for headings and descriptions.

Do Now: Check the website checker last chance for those in red to add work to their website or you will be expected to attend lunchtime catch up on Thursday.

Continue to complete your project by coming up with 2 different redesigns of your room.

Mon 27 -Tues 28 May

Do Now 28/5: Silent reading or start your work.

Student Instructions: Complete your second room redesign . Then watch the youtube clips . Then make a model of a piece of furniture in your redesigned room.

Learning Intention: I can make a 3D model of a piece of furniture in my room using cardboard or the 3D printer.

Success Criteria: The model must be correctly proportioned, well made and no bigger than your hand.

HOMEWORK: Get some stakeholder feedback on your 2 designs from a parent or caregiver. get them to write on your website which design they like the best and why and any ideas they have for improvements.
