  • My website is correctly titled, is published and shared with Mrs Chapman
  • My website reflects my interests and personality
  • I have added at least 1 picture of my cartoons from yesterday with an appropriate comment and title

Student Instructions: Bookmark Mrs Chapman's Website and set up your own website for this class. Title it 9DES- Drawing for Design. Change the sharing settings to global, publish and share it with Mrs C. Remember not to have your last name in the site name.

Do Now: Find all your drawings, take photos of them and place them on your website with appropriate headings.

I can write a Conceptual statement to communicate what I am designing, who this is for (Key stakeholder) and other people who have a stake in the design (stakeholders)

Example of a Brief.

Conceptual Statement: I am going to design a 3 bedroom Artist Residence for myself. It will be used for my husband and myself to live in on my land near Barrytown.

Attributes:

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bedrooms with en suites
  • studio area to paint, sew, do printmaking in
  • gallery space to display work
  • good indoor/ outdoor flow
  • large decks with a BBQ area
  • Fire pit, spa pool and small sauna
  • kitchen that gets morning sun
  • lounge gets afternoon/ evening sun
  • 2 story, symmetrical design
  • use of sustainable and recycled materials where possible

Thursday 21 November

Do Now: Look at your neighbors 9DES website and give them feedback on one thing they have done well and one thing they could improve on in terms of either how their website looks (aesthetics) or how it explains things (how it works or functions).

Learning Intention: I can document my work using a website to a high standard

Success Criteria:

  • My website looks visually interesting and is easy to understand
  • I have included images for all of my work so far and an explanation for each image.
  • I have a heading that makes sense for each section.



Monday 25 November

Do Now: Find a silhouette of a shape for a Christmas decoration and save it onto a google drawing.

Learning Intention: I can use the laser cutter to make a plywood Christmas decoration.

Success Criteria: I can find an appropriate image that is not copyright.

I can place it onto a google drawing correctly

I know how to get this onto the Laserworks V8 programme and set up the laser cutter.

Today we will have a demonstration of how to use the 3D printer and laser cutter and have a go at making a plywood Christmas decoration.

Tuesday 26 November

Do Now: Silent Reading

Learning Intention: I can use the laser cutter to make a 5mm thick plywood Christmas decoration.

Success Criteria: I can find a black and white image with a transparent background that is not copyright to etch on my decoration.

I can place it onto a google drawing in the top left corner and change the size of the drawing to fit the image.

I can import my image into Laserworks and set up the shape to cut for the outside and the hole for the string.


9MGBrief Development Test

If you have finished this and your decoration you can make another one or continue with your Planner 5D, 3D printer or laser cut project

Thursday 28 November & Tuesday 3 December

Do Now: Brief Development Test- Complete the paper copy and hand in to the teacher if you have not done so.

Learning Intention: I can use laser works to create a Christmas decoration or decorative plaque.

Success Criteria:

  • I have found an image and placed it on google Docs.
  • I can import my image into Laserworks and set up the shape to cut for the outside and the hole for the string.
  • I can finish my decoration by sanding, painting and /or oiling and adding string.
