Thursday 15 August

Introductory Session

Drawing exercise: lines, circles, capital letters

Sharing teacher website, setting up student websites and so you think you can't draw exercise.

Week 2

Tuesday 20 August

Learning Intention: I can use the planner 5D programme to create my house

Success Criteria: I can add rooms that are approximately the right size and shape

I can add furniture, doors and windows

I know how to change the size and colour of furniture, walls, windows and doors

Week 3

Monday 26 August

Student Instructions: Search up and log onto a programme called Planner5D. Make sure you are signed into it to save your work.

Experiment to find out how to use the programme by having a go at making your house as it is now ,with correctly shaped and proportioned rooms and similar furniture to what they have at home.


Student Instructions:

  • Complete Do now (5 minutes)
  • Take part in rules/ routines/ PB4L expectations group activity (20 minutes)
  • Change the colours in one room of your planner5D house to match what you have at home. Identify the colour scheme that has been used and write this up on your website with an image of the room in 3D

Tuesday 27 August

Do Now: Play Kahoot Color Theory https://create.kahoot.it/share/colour/41d83207-77c5-4c5f-868b-ee0bf6e90f60

Learning Intention: I understand how to use colour to create an effect

Success Criteria: I can identify the primary and secondary colours

I understand what analogous and complimentary colour schemes are.

I can use my knowledge to identify a colour scheme from my house.



NOTE: due to behavioural difficulties this period the third exercise was not done

Thursday 29 August

Do Now: Freehand draw the cubes to the left as quickly and accurately as you can.

Extension: Add shading showing the direction of the light source.

Learning Intention: I can demonstrate how to use instruments to draw an oblique and isometric cube

Success Criteria:

  • I can set my paper up correctly using a T-square and masking tape.
  • I can use my set square and T -square correctly to create a 1cm border and a title block with 5mm capital letters.

Tuesday 10 Sept

Co-construction of what you would like to design.

You must complete your design in 3 weeks

Size for sleep out 6x6m or 7.5 x5m (36-37.5 Square metre footprint) Can have 2 stories

Thursday 12 Sept

Do Now: On your website with today's date as the heading write what you option you chose to design - either a shed or a deluxe sleep out. Identify who it is for (the stakeholder) and write a list of what you would like to have in your shed or sleep out.

Learning Intention: I can write a brief for my design project

Success Criteria: I can identify an issue, problem, need or opportunity for one of these buildings.

I can write a short statement to communicate what building I am designing and who this is for (Key stakeholder) and other people who have a stake in the design (stakeholders)

I can identify the attributes of that type of building

Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 Sept

Do Now: look up mood boards for bedrooms, sleepouts or sheds to get an idea of how to make one. You can also look on the 9DN page for student examples

Make a mood board on a google drawing using the list of key attributes you identified for your project.

Learning Intention: I can make visually pleasing moodboard for my room redesign.

Success Criteria:

  • I have included images of the products I have identified as being attributes for the type of room I have chosen e.g if I have chosen a kitchen I will have images of a stove, fridge, sink, taps e.t.c.
  • I have arranged my images in an interesting way, chosen the size and placement for each image to represent its importance.
  • I have chosen a background colour that suits the look or theme I am going for and have included colours and textures for walls, floors and curtains.


Thursday 26 September

You will have a reliever today as I am sick.

Please complete your mood board on Google drawings and add to your website with an explanation of what it is

If you have finished this you need to finish the 2 different designs for your project.

Add Images of these to your website and then get feedback from 2 other students on which one they like the best and why in terms of both the look (aesthetics) and the function (how it will work as a living space. Students to write feedback directly into each others website.
