Students will connect to the school’s Internet wirelessly. Students are able to connect to home and public wireless access points as well after Authenticating. Click on the little blue padlock and choose access for 6 hours-then log in using your username and password. You will then be directed to open a new browser window. (Parents are asked not to change the Internet settings since this may prevent students from getting online at school. Devices should connect to home wireless networks without changing the settings.)
Your log in is your first initial followed by the next five letters of your last name, then the last four numbers of your student ID. Your default password is your birthdate, two numbers for the month, two numbers for the day and the last two numbers of the birth year. Students are encouraged to change their passwords frequently to safeguard their account. Students may change their password using Backpack.
For example: Jane Browning ID#39485, birthdate of March 21, 2007 would log in with jbrown9485 PW:032107.
Access Backpack and follow these instructions.

Push and hold the power button down until the Chromebook shuts down. It will seem like a very long time, but have patience! Hold that button down to force it to shut down! Once the Chromebook shuts down, count to five and push the button to power the Chromebook back up. You may have to plug it in to help it power up.
Try the REFRESH key
When plugged in, check to see that if the charging light is on. If not, the problem could be with the Chromebook OR the charger. Stop in the media center with your device and charger for help.
Close any unused open tabs! The more tabs you have open, the slower your Chromebook responds. You may have to restart your device.
If you're getting error messages when trying to view videos, or pages unable to load, try clearing your cache. Link above with instructions.
If you find that some pages aren't loading properly, try updating your browser using these steps. Link above with instructions.
Turn off your Chromebook, then turn it back on.
Try using the camera or microphone in another app or webpage
You may have blocked a certain webpage from accessing the webcam/mic
Open a Chrome browser window
In the address bar delete anything that is in there and type chrome://settings
Open the Privacy and Security section
Click Site Settings and you'll see a list of individual things that can be changed
Scroll down the list to find Camera or Microphone. They each have their own settings page, but adjusting things is exactly the same for each.
At the top of the window that opens you can choose which device you're changing settings for. If you have a separate mic or camera plugged into your Chromebook, make sure to adjust the sttings for both it, and the built-in one.
Next, you see a switch that says Ask before accessing (recommended). If this switch is on, it will be blue and when a website wants to use your mic or camera it will prompt you with a dialog popup that asks for permisssion before going any further. This is probably what you want to happen, so make sure it's switched on.
Next is the Block list and the Allow list. These are websites that you have previously blocked or allowed access to your mic and/or camera. You can remove websites from either list by clicking the trash can on their list entry.
You may need to restart your Chromebook for these changes to take effect.
Some users have reported that their having audio issues with their Chromebook. Either the sound is completely silent or it’s cutting in and out intermittently. There are a variety of problems that can cause this for both sound coming from the speakers and sound coming from headphones. If you’re listening only through the built-in speakers and not headphones then skip to Fix #4.
Otherwise follow each step in order until your sound is fixed!
Suggestion #1: Make sure the headphone are securely plugged in.
Make sure you really insert and push the headphones in - until you hear the click.
Suggestion #2: Try a different set of headphones or earbuds
Suggestion #3: The “close lid” solution
Unplug your headphones.
Close the lid of the chromebook and wait ten seconds.
Plug in the headphones.
Open the lid. The chromebook will re-scan for audio devices and should find your headphones.
OR, if that doesn’t work:
Turn off your chromebook.
Plug in the headphones,
Turn on the chromebook. The chromebook will re-scan for audio devices on startup and should find your headphones.
Suggestion #4: Check sound settings
Look to the lower right corner of your screen. There you will see a series of icons. Click on your account picture at the very right. A window will appear showing you information about your chromebook. Make sure that the audio is at a high volume. If it’s muted, unmute it. And make sure that the output is set to the proper destination; headphones if you want to listen through headphones, speakers if you want to listen through speakers.
Suggestion #5: Clear the cache
Clearing the cache on the chromebook can resolve some audio issues. To clear the cache do this:
Click on the chrome setting button in the browser in the top right corner (it looks like three horizontal lines).
Click Tools and then Clear browsing Data.
Specify that you want to clear information From the beginning of time.
Make sure only Empty the Cache is selected.
Click Clear Browsing Data.
Turn the chrome book off and then on again and try the sound now. If it still doesn’t work then move onto Fix 6.
Suggestion #6: Disable all extensions
The sound issues could be the result of a faulty extension. To solve this you need to disable all of them. Check if the sound now works. If it does then the problem was one of those extensions. Now you need to re-enable each extension individually while checking the sound between each enable. Once the sound breaks again you’ve found your culprit.
