Reporting a Lost or Stolen Chromebook

LOST/STOLEN CHROMEBOOKS AND CHARGERS

• Students should report missing Chromebooks and chargers to the Media Center promptly.

• CHARGERS: Students who are unable to locate their missing charger will be assessed a fee of $38 (NEW) and another charger will be assigned.  Chargers from other sources may damage the Chromebook, so only school-issued chargers are to be used.

• CHROMEBOOKS: Students who are unable to locate their missing Chromebook are required to complete a Missing Chromebook Form which includes checking with each of the student’s teachers, obtaining teachers’ signatures and a parental or guardian signature verifying steps have been taken to retrieve or locate the device.  Chromebook repair or replacement costs are determined by the district's Educational Technology Services (ETS) department.  The school will notify parents/guardians once a repair or replacement cost has been assessed.

  • • • Once the Missing Chromebook Form is completed and submitted to the Media Center, students will need to discuss possible Chromebook replacement options and/or determine whether the Chromebook should be declared lost.

      • The student and the student's parents/guardians will be responsible for the replacement cost if a Chromebook is lost.  Current replacement cost is determined by ETS.  You may pay by check made out to RCMS, by cash in the exact amount directly to the school or via School Cash.  If needed, there may be the option of setting up a payment plan with the school bookkeeper.  Please contact Mrs. Ivie to discuss this possibility.  Her number is 864-452-0311. 

      • Students will not be provided a replacement Chromebook until all the aforementioned steps have been taken.
