Student Accounts

Student accounts are set up by Greenville County Schools and hosted through Google. Students cannot change their account username/email address.

Student account passwords are preset when the account is initially set up. However, teachers have the means to change student passwords upon request.

Account Self-Recovery

It's probably happened to you before: you go to log in and you find that you've forgotten your username or password. Don't worry -- it has happened to everyone at some point. With so many accounts, it's an easy thing to do!

The good news is that you can set it up so that if you ever do forget your account information, you can recover it without having to get a teacher to look it up or reset it for you. Using GCS Backpack's Account Recovery Settings, you can set it up to get your forgotten account information sent to an alternate email or phone number of your choosing. Make sure you double-check your information when you set it up -- you don't want the information going to the wrong person!

Recovery Email Setup

  1. Log into your GCS Backpack.

  2. Select the gear icon to access My Account Settings.

  3. On the Security tab, look on the right of the page for Account Recovery.

  4. Click the Add a Recovery Email button, then enter an email address. (Note: You should use an email address that is not your school email address. If you do not have a personal email address, you can ask a parent to use theirs.)

  5. Click the green Save Recovery Settings button.

  6. Check your recovery email inbox for a verification email message. You must click the link in this email within 24 hours for your Email Recovery Settings to be saved.
