Chromebooks are easy to use and boot up in just seconds. Built-in multiple layers of security help keep students safe from viruses and malware. In addition, updates happen automatically -- for free! You will never need to purchase or install upgrades manually.
The Chrome OS and Chrome browser get students online in an instant and load web pages in seconds, and the battery can provide 10+ hours of power.
Some student-issued Chromebooks may come with a snap-on case with reinforced corners installed on the device. These cases should not be used as "folders" for papers or other items. Papers shift and cause scratches on the device over extended periods of time. An excessive amount of papers can put pressure on an LCD screen and cause physical damage.
**NEW IN 2022: Cases are no longer required for warranty/repair. If damaged, they will not be replaced. If there is a need to remove the case or the case breaks, please see Mrs. Wylie.
When Chromebooks are issued, students also receive a charge cord and power adapter. These charging cables are considered part of the Chromebook, and are the student's responsibility to care for and keep up with.
Students are expected to come to school with their Chromebook fully charged. Students should not bring their charging cables to school. Doing so reduces the chance of the cable being lost, taken, or broken. Instead, students should have a "charging station" at home where they plug in and charge their device every night. (We recommend having this near their backpack so they don't forget it in the morning!)
Replacements for lost or damaged charging cables cost $30.74.
