How will my student be graded?
Students in grades PreK-1 receive a projected growth standards based checklist. This report highlights students’ strengths and areas for growth, taking into account their remote learning (if any) and work they do at school .
We will have parent conferences through out the school year. I will give you a copy of the checklist at our 1st parent conference. I feel that your child's success in class is best achieved when we all work together.
One thing I think that is very important for children to know is their personal information. I call it "Give Me 5!"
Their full name
Their parent's names
An emergency phone number. (Select a cell phone number for your child to memorize)
Their full address, not just their neighborhood
Their birthdate
HOMEWORK
I do not start homework right away. I encourage you to read with your child 15 to 20 minutes at least 5 times a week. I feel that homework helps you, as the parent know what skills your child is learning in school. It usually consist of a spelling menu, 1 night on math and if we have any tests coming up I like to provide a study guide. If your child is taking more than 20 minutes then please talk with me. I also like to provide short story books to use for them to practice reading through the week.
