ACCESS for ELLs (ACCESS) is the collective name for WIDA's suite of summative English language proficiency IDAassessments. ACCESS is taken annually by English learners in kindergarten through grade 12 in WIDA Consortium member states.
ACCESS is a statewide assessment in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking that is intended to determine a student's proficiency in the English language. According to South Carolina law, qualified students are required to participate each year until they pass all sections of ACCESS.
Parents of qualified students will be notified in writing by a letter sent home from the school. Notice will be given approximately two weeks before the assigned test dates.
To learn more about the ACCESS test, please talk to your child's ESOL teacher and visit the South Carolina Department of Education website at resources
WIDA ACCESS will be administered at Blue Ridge High on January 21-February 9,2026.
