DAR Good Citizens Award & Scholarship Contest
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award will recognize and reward one FIHS senior student (male or female) who possesses the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Once a student is chosen as our school's DAR Good Citizen, the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and proctored essay.
Scholarships are awarded to essay winners at the chapter, state, division and national levels!

We are excited to announce the annual Upstate Premedical Immersion Camp (UPIC), a pre-medicine pathway program for high school students in grades 9-12 who are interested in pursuing a career as a physician. The program provides hands-on experiences and meaningful exposure to the medical field. This is designed to increase the educational and mentorship opportunities available to all students. This program will involve medical students from the University of South Carolina - School of Medicine Greenville and resident/attending physicians from Prisma Health Upstate.
The three interactive educational sessions are on Saturdays 9am-2pm, and lunch will be provided. All sessions will be held at USC School of Medicine Greenville located at 607 Grove Rd, Greenville, SC 29605. *Please note transportation is NOT provided.*
A Closing Ceremony is scheduled for March 9, 2026 from 5:30pm-7:30pm where family and loved ones are welcome.
The application will open at 9am on October 15, 2026 and close at 5pm on November 2, 2026.

The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education is offering the Major Knowledge Pilot Program, a virtual initiative designed to help high school students explore college majors, learn about different fields of study, and gain insight into programs offered at participating institutions.
Students and parents are encouraged to register for the upcoming sessions:
October 14: Finance, Real Estate, and Business Management
October 21: Plumbing/HVAC and Industrial Engineering
October 22: Plumbing/HVAC and Industrial Engineering
Time: 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM

Camp Spearhead is a special needs camp serving children and adults with disabilities and is operated by Greenville County Parks, Recreation, & Tourism. It provides campers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of social and recreational activities during the school year, typically day trips and are staffed by volunteers. The Weekend Program Fall activities schedule include but are not limited to sporting events, zoo trips, picnics, overnight retreats, dance parties and more. Volunteers must be 16 years old or older.
