Scholarship Opportunity and Recognition Ceremony for Juniors!
Fountain Inn High School has the opportunity to nominate two students from our Junior class to apply for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Student of Integrity Award, worth $1000. This award is designed to recognize students who personify high character through leadership, community service, academic achievement, and overall personal integrity.
Students who would like to be considered for nomination should complete the google form linked below by Thursday March 26. Submissions will be reviewed by a scholarship panel, and two students will be chosen to represent FIHS. The nominated students will then complete a Student of Integrity Award Application packet, which will be due on Monday April 13. Students who are chosen by the BBB as award recipients will be recognized at the BBB's Annual Celebration of Ethics in November 2026. Junior year is the year of starting to put your plans into place.
Get to know yourself. What is it you want to pursue as a career? What do you want to study? Think about your goals and values and what types of careers interest you.
Research careers you are interested in. What do those careers entail for training and/or education? Some jobs require work experience, technical certificates and degrees, a 2 year degree, some a 4 year degree, and some require a graduate degree.
Do you want to attend college after high school? If yes:
Research Colleges
Visit Colleges online or in person if possible
Take standardized college entrance exams like the ACT or SAT. You can take these several times even into your senior year if necessary.
Narrow your list of potential colleges to 3-8 or a number that seems reasonable to you.
College Visits
Juniors and seniors are allowed up to three college visits each year. Each visit must be to a different institution. In order for a college day to count as a field trip, you must bring written proof of your visit to the institution on the college’s letterhead the day you return to school. The attendance clerk will collect and file your proof in the attendance office.
If you fail to follow this procedure exactly, your college visit will count as an absence and count against your allotted absences per semester.
