VOICE PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The A.R.M.E.S. Voice program is an active, process-based music course designed to challenge and develop students who demonstrate an interest and aptitude in vocal music.
A.R.M.E.S. Voice provides students with a strong foundation in healthy vocal technique, aural skills, sight-singing, ear training, music theory, keyboard skills, and vocal performance. Students will develop basic keyboard skills that allow them to find pitches, play melodies and vocal parts, and use the piano as a tool for independent practice and musicianship.
Through individual and ensemble experiences, students will develop their musical independence, confidence, and understanding of the singer’s role in a choral ensemble. Students will explore a variety of musical styles and repertoire while developing skills that will prepare them for continued study in middle school and high school choir programs, honors ensembles, and other advanced vocal music opportunities.
Students will share their learning and growth through cumulative showcases during the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Sara Perreault is a second-year vocal instructor who holds a bachelor’s in Music Education from Bob Jones University. She has experience working with students in choral and one-on-one coaching, and she is passionate about making learning voice fun and interactive for all students. In her free time, Sara enjoys participating in various music ensembles and spending quality time with friends outdoors or at a local coffee shop! She is excited to work with the ARMES team this year!

ashlyn cooper - northern site vocal instructor
Ashlyn Cooper is entering her eighth year of teaching music and currently teaches elementary music at Heritage Elementary School in Travelers Rest. She holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from Anderson University. In addition to teaching general music, she directs two extracurricular chorus ensembles and serves as a Lead Music Teacher for Greenville County Schools. Ashlyn is passionate about helping students build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music through engaging, student-centered experiences. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy traveling with their Golden Retriever and rescue Terrier mix, scuba diving, and playing board games. She looks forward to inspiring young musicians through the ARMES program.
