Project Overview
In Social Studies, students will investigate how a market economy works and what the social, economic and environmental costs of the products they consume are.
Products
Team Products:
-Public Awareness Campaign.
-PSA Commercial and Infographic explaining the cost of producing a popular consumer good and create a suggestion of a humane eco-friendly alternative.

Individual Products:
- Diagram explaining the flow of materials, labor, and capital used to produce a popular consumer good.

Market Economy: How does a market economy work?
Students will complete Checkpoint 1 Quiz
Consumer Good Production: Where do the things I buy come from and how are they produced?
Students will create a circular flow diagram. The diagram will explain the flow of materials, labor, and capital used to produce a popular consumer good. They will pick a product they think would be good for the school store and complete a perspective graphic organizer.
Consumption Impacts: What are the impacts on the economy, people and the environment when I buy a product?
Group narrow down product choices and find product sources -Gallery Walk Observations
Sustainable Consumption: How can we raise awareness of the impacts of products and promote responsible consumption?

Public Awareness Campaign: How can we share what we have learned with others in our community?
A persuasive letter to local school principals urging them to stock school stores and vending machines with sustainable humane consumer goods.
