The oil and gas industry is making huge profits from people’s suffering - reportedly an average of $2.8 billion EVERY DAY for the past 50 years

In 2024, the cost to ordinary people of climate and weather events was estimated at a staggering $300 billion globally.  

Energy Transfer won a lawsuit against Greenpeace US and Greenpeace International, who were initially ordered to pay $660million, later reduced to $345mil. If we don’t win our appeal, we lose having to shut down Greenpeace in the US.

In 2022 the global fossil fuel industry made $4 trillion in profits and received $7 trillion in government subsidies. 

Only $790 million has been pledged so far in the Loss & Damage fund, and about half of that actually paid out. The UK has pledged only about $52 million (£40 million).

With a small tax on fossil fuel companies, the Loss & Damage Fund would grow by 2000%.

Shell announced it made £22.4 billion profit in 2023. It would take the average British worker over 640,000 years to earn as much as Shell did in 2023. 

If someone earned £30,000 every day from the day Jesus was born, they still wouldn’t have made today as much as Shell did in 2023.

Over the past 4 years, over 5000 fossil fuel lobbyists have been sent to COP negotiations.
