Current Partnerships

Greendale Department of Public Works

The Greendale DPW has been invaluable in our work of current forest maintenance as well as planning for the future of the woods. The DPW's expertise and generosity during our buckthorn eradication work and trail building help students' service projects be successful.

LEAF and the Wisconsin School Forest Program

LEAF is Wisconsin's K-12 Forestry Education Program. A branch of LEAF is the Wisconsin School Forest Program. Through both organizations, Greendale School District receives practical guidance, support, educational materials and teacher training to support our work.

Greendale Park and Recreation Department

We are working with Jackie Schweitzer, Director of the Greendale Park and Recreation Department, to coordinate projects and planning woods' use throughout the year with our students.

WI DNR

Thanks to Mike Seiger, DNR forester, who designed a forest management plan specific to our wooded parcels and answered our questions since we've registered our school forest in 2013.

Snapshot Wisconsin --a free WI DNR program we've been accepted into through application process; Greendale HS students will monitor a trail camera in our woods and then take part in a "survey" of what wildlife is found not only in our woods, but throughout the state.

Great Lakes Worm Watch --community science project where 8th graders collect and analyze data on invasive worms in the forest and share with the project's database
