Everything, just here, all at once!
All in one place - A TALE OF TWO CLASSES photo album; AUTOGRAPH YEARBOOKS; TIME CAPSULES in 3 versions (12a & 12b) - with much love from me!
The aim of this group project was to allow my 12th-graders to look back on their school life, collect memories which they would like to keep and leave something to their fellow schoolmates to remember them by, as well as to practice their English in an enjoyable way!
Content:
They had to decide on the main theme of their product after discussing some suggested ideas and topics:
- Student/class profiles – before (using baby photos is allowed), now and how they see themselves/each other in 10/20 years’ time
- School memories – challenges, achievements, fun times, trips, catchy phrases, etc.
· - Time capsule messages – to open in 10/20 years’ time
· - How they would like to be remembered
· - What they would most like to keep from their school years
What was important was that no one was left out and there was no overlap between what different groups do. They could use their own resources, make questionnaires to collect answers from their classmates, teachers and/or head teachers;they could also videotape themselves speaking, singing, making short funny sketches.
Format:
· E-newsletter/flipbook (pdf file)
· Autograph book (лексикон) (digital, though)
· PowerPoint/Photostories
· Short film
· Video sketches/diaries
They could choose a format that suited them best!
Stages and deadlines
In the course of the project students had to:
1. Brainstorm ideas on what they would like to include and distribute tasks
2. Think of a good TITLE which should summarise the main theme of the project and sub-headings for the different chapters/sections
By 15 February
3. Select materials they already have
4. Conduct interviews with classmates/teachers and/or design questionnaires for them to answer
5. Select the materials they were going to use
By 15 March
6. Decide on the format of their project
7. Design their product and submit in Google classroom
By 12 April
8. Present in front of the class – last week of April
Before you post the assignments, make sure you have duplicated enough slides for all the students in class. You can insert their names, too, to avoid confusion. Also, assign the questions to individual students, so there is no overlap.
Please fill in your allocated slide - there are 5 questions to answer and two photos to insert. If your answers are longer, you might need to duplicate your slide. Be careful not to write over other people's work!
The group who give the assignment can turn the presentation into a short video.
Please fill in your slide with a recent photo of yourself and short predictions about the way you see yourself in 10 years' time, which you are then going to compare with the way the members of the assigning group see you.
Their slides are filled in as an example.
The students who give the assignment should fill in their slides as an example and include their predictions about the class members after their classmates have done their bit.
At the presentation, slides are randomly mixed and the presentation is animated, so that the class can see the text written by each of them first and try to guess who the person is. They then compare with the group's predictions and then the photos and names are revealed.
Sadly, 2021 is going to be another pandemic prom year, which should not stop students from celebrating their graduation despite the face masks.
Insert two photos of yourself, with and without a face mask, and 3 things you would like to be remembered for.
Before the presentation, slides are animated and mixed in the way students decide to play.
Students can see the text first and try to guess who the person is, or they can see the photos and names first and suggest what they will remember their classmate for before comparing with their an
Assign a question to each member of the class before you post the file in Google classroom.
Your classmates will need to record themselves on their phones or in Meet and attach the MP4 file in the assignment. Their recorded answers should be 20-30 seconds long.
They also need to attach two photos of themselves - one from the period 8th-9th grade & one from 11th-12th grade.
The group who has assigned the task is then responsible for combining the materials into a short video presentation.
