Totalitarian regimes practiced ruthless tyranny. Having even more power than the absolute rulers of the seventeenth century, totalitarian leaders promised to improve the lives of ordinary citizens and to expand the territory of their countries. Driven by racism and a thirst for power, Nazi Germany led the world into another world war- this one even more devastating than the first.
