Cold War to the Present

Though World War II had ended, the world plunged into another, albeit unconventional, war. Mostly fought between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, the Cold War realigned much of Europe into a capitalist or communist bloc. While this conflict continued, Europe began rebuilding and decolonizing after WWII. New organizations like the European Union helped establish political and economic unity after so much division.
