Towards a New Worldview

"The intellectual developments of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries created the modern worldview that the West continues to hold - and debate - to this day" (McKay, 504). The developments in science and philosophy created the framework for understanding the natural world and society. Philosophes in the Enlightenment sought to bring the light of reason into the dark world and show the progress being made.
